Hello everyone,

The staff has just voted in a new warning policy effective immediately. After much discussion about the weighting of warns and their effectiveness, we have decided to accompany them with suspensions depending on the severity of the warn. Below is the table that has which suspensions are accompanied with which warning level:

10% - [No Suspension]
20% - 12 hour
30% - 1 day (+12 hours if going from 20% to 30%)
40% - 2 day (+1 day if going from 30% to 40%)
50% - 4 day (+2 day if going from 40% to 50%)
60% - 8 day (+4 day if going from 50% to 60%)
70% - 12 day (+4 day if going from 60% to 70%)
80% - 14 day (+2 day if going from 70% to 80%)
90% - 21 day (+7 day if going from 80% to 90%)
100% - [Ban upon Staff agreement]

These suspensions are cumulative, meaning that if you get 20% one day and serve your 12 hour suspension, then if you get warned up to 30% you will only have to serve the next suspension level minus the amount you have already done (12 hours). It's gonna hurt though if you jump more than one warn level.

We have also adjusted the warn decay cycle. It now only takes 20 days for your warn to begin decaying, then 10 days afterwards of that to decay one more, and then 5 days to decay any subsequent warns.

Question: Will there still be suspensions without warning? Or will you just get 20%- 90% warn?

This is great! I'm sure most of the people here at codex will finally stop flaming each other 15 times a day.

It depends on the crime of course, but this is just what comes with increased warnings. the staff is trying to use all of its options to the best measure possible smile.gif.

The idea of the suspensions is that it gives a cool-off period. Most of the time it is flaming, and during suspensions the person is unable to come to the board to flame any further. However, this only begins at 20%, so 10% warnings are meant to 'deter' any further action. It takes 20 days for a 10% to decay, so that means that if a person receives a warn once every 20 days, they should be free of any suspensions. Any more than that and the suspensions start coming. wink.gif

Wow, big jump in severity tongue.gif. If it was like this when I was new I would've been suspended tongue.gif. Well, with closed registrations this rule is fine since everyone should know all the rules, but once we re-open them if a newbie messes up 2 times a suspension is kind of harsh and might push him/her away

We'll try to take this into consideration with verbal warnings and such. tongue.gif Chances are that if they're told what they are doing wrong and no warn is given, they probably won't try to make the same mistake. If they somehow do, they will have had two notifications including the verbal warn and the official warn without getting a suspension.

I remember my first warn =P I actually PM'd SLink because I didn't know I broke the rules, and I was like "I'm so sorry :'(". Glad to see that warns are finally being taken seriously, but I do not agree with the shortening of warn decay, oh well. Good job anyways, glad to see staff is up to something =]

Hopefully this'll change something. Now all we need is to make sure no one gets away with not being warned simply because it's how they are...

Yep biggrin.gif. I'm learning in college as well that teamwork is key. If you work together and with other people, you are so strong and united and can accomplish so much. But if you work alone and away from everyone else, you have to solve every problem yourself and compete with those who are working together...

Teamwork is key smile.gif. Unity is key as well biggrin.gif.

As long as it is persistent for everyone (Well except a new member, give them the benefit) so any member breaking the rules receives a punishment completely the same as if they were any other rank. smile.gif

Makes an awful lot of sense biggrin.gif. I can't say I start a lot of turmoil myself, so I can't exactly stop doing that, but I will...I dunno, report more when I see it. To try and do my bit to help codex happy.gif. I've actually been reading similar stuff in IT at the minute, it was actually talking about making a successful Information system but it can be applied to making anything successful anyway. Knowing where the problem is, having solutions to the problem and working together in a strong team to get to that point.

Sounds good, that really should make warns more of a threat. Hopefully they'll be avoided from now on tongue.gif Heh, I'm pretty proud of myself, I've never gotten one.
