What do you guys think of him playing in America?
Of course he will attract a few fans but this is America and that is soccer. Everyone knows soccer isn't populer (at all) in America.

+ he's not the type of player that really entertains the crowd...
his abilities are accurate long passes, and shots, and strong shots...he's a master freekick taker....

i dont expect a lot of US sports fan will be pulled into the game...

but do remember, he has bigger celebrity status worldwide.....football is world's favourite sport

Who knows, maybe he'll do something to soccer and make it *gasp* popular(mainstream wise, that is)!!1111!!1one!

Or maybe he'll just get more rich than he already is right now. I don't have anything against the guy, it just that he's trying to do the impossible.

yeah such a great player he got dropped from the England team because he played so badly at the world cup

i really dont care what hes trying to do, he has passed his time and should just retire with however much he has atm.

if you was going to try and get a nation into a sport you need good exciting players to watch like Ronaldo (even though I hate him) he is a great player to watch and makes the sport more exciting.

The fact that the United States has a professional league doesn't mean ANYTHING. Ask anybody who lives in America and they will probably tell you they have never been to an MLS game and it is never on TV or anything like that. It gets basically no exposure. And i also don't like [my pride comes out dry.gif] that you say most Americans love power. You seem very ignorant in that post.

i'm not a footy fan, but i heard he was going to get a mil each week!

For a million bucks a week i think i would spend a 5 year holiday in the land of make-believe, it's not as if he's going to get that kind of wage in England

its ridiculous what he is being payed, its like 10x more than the combined salaries of all other players on the team. I would be pissed if he joined my Soccer Team, its just for the money, he isn't as good as he used to be, at least England sees that. I think soccer is much more interesting than American Football or Baseball, but the majority of the population disagrees. It just wont go over well, it wont increase popularity or whatever the team thought.

Key word being WAS, he should just retire. he is rubbish now and has been for quite a few years now. His so called specialities are his free kicks corners and liong balls.

as shown in the world cup he scored 1 free kick (against Jamaica), his corners were usually too deep or hit first defender and his long balls were generally terrible.

If you did nt understand any terminology used by me, you obviosuly dont know enough about football to be arguing about it.

Beckham can't compete in Europe anymore of course. He says he wants to come and play in MLS so he can continue to play, but I bet the 120 mill over 5 years didnt bother him either. tongue.gif

I have always wondered why football/soccer is not popualr in the US. The only conclusions I can come up with is that its because you can tie a game lol and there is only 2 halves rather than 4 quarters etc. In every other sport in the US you can only win or lose right? And a sport does not get anywhere in America without crazy amounts of sponsorhip....that can only come if the game is split into smaller parts.

I might do a little research on the ACTUAL reasons for it as these are just my guesses....I want to know why lol wacko.gif

thought so, why is college basketball so popular in the states?

I would have thought it would not be anywhere near as appealing as the professional game....
