CodexWiki Project Released

I am pleased to inform everyone that the Neocodex Wiki project has finally been completed. Thanks to Laser Wave for programming the entire system. You have worked hard on this and I think you did a wonderful job on it. Keep up the good work!

Neocodex Wiki is pretty much self-explanitory; it is similar to Wikipedia in that you can create your own articles and edit others in real-time. However, the Neocodex Wiki project is intended to achieve a historical goal: The idea is that all of you record information about Neocodex such as events, major points of interest, people, etc. in the wiki.

To access the Wiki, click here: http://www.neocodex....ex.php?act=wiki ... or choose "CodexWiki" on the top navigation bar.

Examples of things to have in the Wiki: Information about famous programs, famous developments, major historic points, information about website changes, and whatever fits along those lines that will help explain Neocodex's history to someone (mentioning other sites like us is allowed, just linking them is against the rules).

Remember to exercise proper etiquette. This means NO vandalism (or risk getting suspended from the Wiki), no editing someone else's article unless the facts have been verified, use proper formatting (don't be messy), etc...

Remember, any articles deemed as pointless will be removed by moderators. All board rules will be upheld in the Wiki Articles. Laser Wave does have moderating powers in the Wiki, because he created the system and I'm sure he won't abuse his Wiki powers.

And last but not least.... Making Wiki Articles adds to your post count!

Now.. rawr, start making articles, it adds to the post count and to the posts per 24 hours thing you know.

They were added, it's just buggy right now.

Far left one: Edit current section.
Next one: Add new section to current article.
Next one: Revert to other versions of article.

The rest are moderator functions and are hidden for most of you.

Don't just say a title page is needed, make suggestions as to what would need to be on the title page to make it easier to navigate then we can add them...

For suggestions for the title page, I would say a button that would direct to an archive contaiing articles, or perhaps a small list of the most recently created articles.

a front page with a few ways of getting at the pages you dind't know exist

for example top 10 lists (most popular, latest additions/latest updated, etc....)

if would be good to have a 2 tier menu system that are wiki pages so people can add/update menu sections
tier one could be the major sections we have on the board for starters maybe
tier two could allow people to add pages they have made, like posts, but more structured

2 tier menu is just a menu with menu pages below the first one

so have on the first tier have things like

The Lounge
Neopets
Gaming
Arts and Graphics
Programming

etc...

then under those menus people can add items or other menus as they see fit

So will this end up like the real Wiki, so like...everything to do with codex will be there? An entry explaining the ongoing forum games and explaining the majority of the members and stuff? It'll be ace for newbies, especially if the front page is a little more open, I just typed codex to get a feel for it .

Anyways, it's an awesome idea . And well done Laser for doing it all!

Could you.. idk, order them alphabetically or something (Like title begins with A/B/C etc)?
There's nothing specific I want to search for, but if you could look through them that way it would be easier than looking through random ones.

1. There's no clean format being followed by some people. Use a clean format for your articles.
2. Stop filling the wiki with articles about yourself and start filling it with some history. Notice I didn't make an article about myself.

Yes, ok, but just don't fill the wiki with personal articles. Try and put in events and stuff too.

And make sure to use proper format, such as putting the name of the article in bold and including it as part of the first sentence of your article (see the Neocodex article).

Nope, just make sure they look neat and aren't biased (state only facts).
