We always think of ourselves as the alpha species, better than ants, better than dogs, better than elephants. But is that true? Could God simply be some animal that is larger in scale similar to the scale between us and ants?(Think of something like the endscenes of Men In Black 1 & 2.)
Discuss.

It depends on how you define it. We are the dominant mammalian species on the planet. But It doesn't mean that we are better than anything else. Its just the way we have evolved and adapted over the years. Thats my take on it.

The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins is a great book on this.

We probably think humans are dominant because we are human. If you were and ant, wouldn't you thinks ants are the best?

    No you probably wouldnt.

We are not technically the strongest animal on the planet, so if I was to wrsetle a bear I would more than likely lose.

But we have advanced in technology which makes us the alpha species, if I fought a bear and I had a shotgun I would most likely win.

    This is a great example.

Yeah, but what if there's a greater species out there but we don't know it?
You never know if a hurricane is caused by a much larger species blowing on a straw.

If you take the basest definition of an alpha species, which would be the species that is most prevalent, then of course homo sapiens is the clear winner.

Scientifically, this hardly classifies as a debate... but I assume you were trying to spark some sort of metaphorical rights discussion... so carry on tongue.gif
