As for Christianity, I just find it completely paradoxical to believe in Christianity, yet not Judaism... especially with the whole Christian elitist views against 'Jews.' Jesus wasn't a Christian, so how can you say you follow Christ without following his ideas and beliefs? I'm sure there may be one, but I feel like a Judeo-Christian religion will form and eventually replace Christianity because of the paradoxical situation between Judaism and Christianity.

Most modern-day Jews still follow the Old Testament Law. This is specifically what Jesus told them NOT to do when He died. When Jesus died He setup a new covenant (Galations), one that abolished the Old Testament Law. Most modern day Jews also don't believe Jesus was the Messiah, or some that He even existed. Trust me, there's a huge difference between the two.

Most jews don't follow up with the old testament law. They may believe in it, but they dont fully adhere. Most anyways, paticularly the reform jews (who are extremely accepting and embracing of several things considered bad sins.) Orthodox jews are another story.

Then again, most Christians don't follow up with what Jesus taught. Its not that you can be 100% perfect, but civilization could do a whole lote better.

I'm clarifying the difference between most modern day Jews and Christians. He said their is hardly any difference and that one day they will come together, which I stated is untrue because most Jews who are NOT Christian conform to the Old Testament Laws and do not believe in the new covenant of Jesus.

I understand. I was simply raising the fact both sides of the spectrum has slowed down in their faith in recent years, something which has led to collectivism.

Siddhartha Gautama reached enlightenment through witnessing tragedy, acknowledged many (what I consider) truths of life. He taught them, yet specifically said to NOT treat him like a deity, but to just learn from these truths and become a better person. He did not instigate to be considered a god, and (what I consider) true Buddhist do not treat him as a god. Instead, he is seen as a (or, specifically) Buddha, or enlightened one. He is.

And people are talking to us about ignorance of religion? (About the difference between Christianity and Judaism) (Not directed at you totally)

A major point in Christianity is that God helps those who help themselves. If you take care of your body, you can live a long and healthy life, and rarely do those kind of people get in big car accidents. Just a superstitious observation, though I think it is a general theme in the bible

    What Bible are you reading?

The general theme of Christianity is helping others to find the path with God, while keeping your faith and life straight as well.

If that's what you meant by helping yourself, then you are pretty close. But I don't think that is what you meant...sorry if I am wrong or misunderstood.

So you believe that Jesus's beliefs were incorrect? If so, that seems to not be Christian.

Do you UNDERSTAND what I'm saying? I'm introducing a paradox that apparently flew over quite a few heads.

Are you qualified to make that assumption? One cannot "know" Jesus' true beliefs, but if you're referring to what He taught in the Bible, I ask the same question, have you read all of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John? (Along with the letters written by the Apostles afterwards?). I'm just wondering, correct me if I'm wrong.

    '
I've either read them or seen film adaptations by televangilists. So, yes. In fact, I have a joint test on Christianity and Islam tomorrow, if you would enjoy to question my understanding further, do so.

Jesus' religious belief was in Judaism. It's plain in fact that Matthew, Luke, John, and the other gospels agree with me, as well. Have you read them?

    Please go re-read.

Now tell me what I was talking about.

i've always wondered something, and that is what do christians believe happen to jews? is it possible for a jew to go to heaven, or are they stuck forever in limbo / hell because they were under the wrong impression their whole lives? i just can't imagine someone being punished for that, since most people stick to the way they were brought up in their family.

sorry for being so critical, but it could it be that john/mark/peter/whoever said that to sway people away from judaism?

Heres the difference. The Jewish businessman gets off for every penny he gets in profit. The Christian televangelist gets pissed if they dont get all the profit they can possibly get out of their "God wants you to be rich" or "Give money to serve God" scheme, and decides to rape jessica hahn or bark a bunch of prostitutes.

Thats called "KEEPING YOUR LIFE STRAIGHT." You help yourself, and God will help you. Alturism is another big factor in Christianity, but it seems explicit in the book God wants you to help yourself as well as others. Whats the point of putting others first if you're completely drained and about dead?

I just feel like pointing out that in Islam it is written in the Qur'an that anyone who truly believes in God and does good in their lives will be rewarded - so basically according to Islam if you're a pious Jew or even a good natured Buddhist who does good in life will in fact get into heaven. You may think, whats the point of being Muslim if the Jew ends up in heaven too. Well there are different levels of heaven for different levels of piousness. smile.gif I just felt like sharing that bit tongue.gif

Wow, I love how you just pick out the bad an exaggerate JUST to try and make Christianity look bad. Honestly, that looks like a personal problem too me.

Honestly, every group has it's rotten apples, all you're doing is picking them out and trying to create a stereotype over the entire group, which just reveals your strange intents.

I believe it was called a jab at humour. I'll be attempting a lot of that, for my own self amusement more or less.

Most Christians are normal people with good intentions and good thoughts, but you have to admit that the televangelists and some of the people who claim to represent christianity are nuckin' futs. Its one thing to have a big church that is genuine, prays for the sick and dying, offers a community feel to their faith, and its another to go on television praying for promotions, pay check raises, and material desires that arent nessecary by any means, with product placement ads in the church and a starbucks coffeeshoppe. Some of these big churches have lost their way and forgot the important message which is to gather every sunday for the love of Jesus, not to entertain everyone with flashy lights and the like.

I don't know to much about Judiasm, but I'll do my best here.

I believe that those who follow Judiasm believe in the Old Testiment alone, they don't believe in any part of the New Testament, they believe that a savior is still coming for them.

Yes, there are many differences between them that I know of from my school's Bible teacher. As far as views against Jews? I have no hatred towards them and neither does most of the Christian church.

True, Jesus wasnt a Christian, he was God himself in a human body to take the sacrafice to die on the cross for us and make it so that we could be saved. He fuffiled the Old-Testament prophecy that a Savior was coming, who would forgive our sins so that we could spend Eternity with God in Heaven. Without Jesus dying on the Cross, it would be near impossible (I believe, I'm not totally sure about this though because it never happened this way.) for us to go to Heaven.

My friend, Judeo-Christianity will never happen, Christianity will always be Christianity, there will always be Christians above all odd forms of cults (Example of that is the other post in this form where the cult is happy that the VT shooting happened) God wouldnt allow that to happen.
