Well I just been watching the Jeremy Kyle Show and this church group from America was on the program. They were talking how 'America is doomed' and that 'God hates fags' and such like.

They had even said the Virginia Tech murders were an act of god, and the head of the church had wished more people had died. They have a website: http://www.godhatesfags.com/

And I am just wondering, what do you guys think about this church/cult?

Same as every other evangelical church; a bunch of closed minded cockbadgers that preach tolerance, peace and forgiveness, but forget the foundations of their religion when it comes to someone outside of their straight, white, American demographic.

Ooh, I think that's quite enough blood boiling for me today. Just don't get me started on creationists.

I agree with you there. I was appalled out how they tried to portray there views to the UK.

I mean there was a large majority of catholic people in the audience and they said: 'God hates the catholic's, they're the paedophiles' or something along those lines. I was quite shocked. I mean they also had a five year old holding a banner saying 'God Hates Fags'!

They're decent people if you've seen Louis Therox (sp)'s program on Fred Phelp's church, they love their family and are extremly close knit. But think about it, they're only there to help people out, trying to "save their souls" and such, they're just doing it in a controversial and in most cases dangerous way.

I'm glad we don't know have any groups like this in the UK though, although it would be amusing to watch these guys in action and to question their beliefs.

Those groups are in 90% of the developed nations of this planet.they may not be on t.v and such but they are there.
But it is interesting how they pick and choose which parts to obey. like not killing preachers for working on sunday. Anyone who even attempts to follow these books are going doomed since there are atleast 2143 contridictions which all have death at the end of them.

to bad the romans didn't have enough lions.

They believe that everybody who doesn't believe what they do is going to hell, remind me again what is their difference from every other group of Christians?

As far as I can see, their only difference is that they are willing to question the current state of America, which the rest of religious America doesn't like.

"Believe what we do, or go to hell".

They came to my town to protest something about a year ago. I actually like what they do. They were bringing people together against their pathetic ideals. When they came there were like 12 or 15 people with them and there was a counter protest of like a thousand people. That made me feel really good.(esp. considering I live in the south)

Fred Phelps is a true modern day calvinist. He's not nearly as bad as people like to play him out to be. He's just your average American nut. He has his views, and at the end of the day you can only laugh at how silly the bastard is.

Fun fact: He was a civil rights lawyer who defended black people for 25+ years, and was staunchly against segregation in the US because, as he put it "God hates fags, not blacks."

My friend, I happen to be a Presperterian Christian, and I can tell you this, those people - they're not to generalize as the entire Chiristan religion, we're not like that, your just putting stereotypes out there that we don't listen to anyone, we do, or atleast the Church I go to, and don't bring race, sexual orientation or such into this, it has no purpose.

God does things to bring glory to Him, why he did the shootings at VT? I doubt we'll ever know, but God has a reason for all things, and no God dosent love to see people killed at all, and neither does the Christian Church.

Really, you should watch the generalizations, just because this cult has this, it has NO relationship to Christians, fundamentals arent the same, and we dont love to see people die, I cried when I heard about the shootings at VT, as did most people.

    Great post.

That is like saying all Muslim's are anti-American, suicidal, etc. That is only the extremist point of view- most are peaceful, it actually goes against their religion to kill innocent people (AFAIK, Where is Hydro when I need him). The same applies here. God loves everyone (AFAIK, Josh can come here and pull a verse out of his hat). Only verse I can think of off the top of my head is John 3:16.

Ugh... I can't believe you guys are saying that they are no different than the rest of Christians. It makes you sound like you have no idea what goes on in churches. We sure as hell do NOT do any of that kind of thing. They protest at soldiers funerals stating "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" but then they have people who ride to every funeral on their motorcycles and try their hardest to block the family's view to spare them the pain because they care. And guess what. Most of those guys are Christian. I would say the grand majority of Christians hate everything that "church" does and the dishonor they bring Christians because of it. Just as I'm sure the grand majority of Muslims hate terrorists in America because of the dishonor and distrust it brings to them. Kim you said that we're all closed minded but who is closed minded when you think all of us are like that? We are not close minded. If we were there would not be so many denomimations each believing a different thing. Evangelical does not mean forcing beliefs. It means sharing beliefs so don't get it confused. Being in an evangelical church hardly means you are a jackass who is no different from WBC.

hes a seven point calvinist. Because his church was bombed in the 80s everyone but the Westboro baptist church is going to hell in his eyes, even though the bible says accepting jesus and repenting will assure you a spot in heaven.

If you want people to take you seriously...don't call them names.

I'm quite impressed though that you know every single evangelical church is full of cockbadgers...must've taken you a long time to find every single one eh?

Its inevitable for there to be radical sects in every religion on the planet. It does not make the evangelical church bad in general. You can believe whatever you want but if you act upon your thoughts is a different story.

Same how interpretation of text has always been a problem. Look how many problems continue for 200 years over our constitution.

Thank you! I agree wholeheartly. Just because one type of people who CLAIM to be of the Christian religion (?), but their acts contradict this, their whole philosophy on life, etc, is all wrong. While you may not be a Christian, I am, and thank you for putting this point out there. =D Much appreciated.

Unfortunately even New Zealand has extremist sects like this one. A year or so ago 'Destiny Church' marched against the civil union bill (Equivalent to marriage for homosexuals), with 5+ year old children, performed a Haka (Maori war dance) and brandished their fists with their anti-gay banners held by adults and children alike. This I object to. That and knocking on my door once a week or following me around at uni. I don't have a problem with religion as a whole because I know most leave me alone. The extremists and door-knockers bother me quite a bit though.
