I think it bashes FF and supports Opera really.
It's basically saying "I hate FF, GET OPERA!"

The main thing which annoys me about IE7 at the moment is that the vertical scrollbar isn't all the way to the right of the screen, there's approximately 1px width of border to the right of it which means that you actually have to aim your cursor slightly to the left to grab the bastard...whereas with Firefox it's all the way on the right edge. biggrin.gif

I use FF and have for a while, but I do have to admit everything about it has always been a bit overblown. People support FF with a fervor for no reason (maybe they're bored and just want an easy cause to be a champion for) and tout supposed facts about its security and such that just aren't true. Don't get me wrong, I love FF, but it's not as great as people to make it out to be. (and IE isn't as bad as people make it out to be either)

Oh yeah.... and my Firefox crashes regularly while doing certain tasks, so anyone that says Firefox is super reliable and never crashes just hasn't found the thing that'll do it yet tongue.gif

    I like Firefox more because
    1) Some B/S toolbar doesn't appear at random.
    2) I'm used to the layout. I couldn't stand Opera.

If Firefox was really that bad than no one would use it. I have tried both Opera and IE and have always come back to Firefox. Why that is? I've no idea, but for some reason I like it over the other browser, and that must make it better, at least in my eyes.

Same... I went to Opera for a while, but switched back to FF later 1we8.gif

Firefox's popularity is pretty much a result of good marketing and a niche group of computer users that hate Microsoft for every reason they can possibly think of. It's marketing got the message out to those people, who easily picked up on it and started touting its superiority over Internet Explorer. Notice how no one ever argues about "Firefox is so much better than Opera!" or "Firefox is so much better than Safari!" The marketing got people to use firefox, and the anti-MS zealots spread it.

The reason I use FF now is because I've been using FF for a while, and have no reason to change. Everything is set up how I want it to be and everything works like it should. The big reason I got into it at all in the beginning was tabbed browsing... Which IE now has so if it wasn't for that, who knows if I'd be using FF at all.

It's not a bad browser. Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't be using it if it was a bad browser. But in the end it's just a browser like the other browsers and there is no ultimate superiority of one over the other.

All that I know is that IE7 is really slow, really badly slapped together, and really annoying on my computer. Firefox pwns it on my computer, haha. I haven't tried Opera yet (except on the Wii), but if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? Once Firefox starts acting screwy, I'll try out Opera, heh.

EDIT: Knock on wood, as soon as I said that, Firefox started acting screwy and froze up. Guess I'm trying Opera, haha.

Actually, I think I shall make a derived theory of Godwin's Law.

"As an online discussion about computing grows longer, the probability of someone insulting or making an illogical claim about Microsoft or one of its products approaches one, regardless of its relevance to the discussion."

If Opera made more room for extension building... I might be happy with it as a regular browser... but they don't... thus why I do the FireFox thing. FireFox is a memory hog on everything but a few Linux distros... even then it has its moments.

The only thing about the extensions is that one of the major reason why FireFox has security vulnerabilities is because of them... so perhaps that is why Opera avoided them?

Also, I am guessing you got this eventually through that Digg article.

I used to use FF.... untill it started randomly blocking things in neo... got to the point wher ei had to take off adblocker... and it still didn't fix anything... uninstalled and reinstalled firefox like 3-4 times.... nothing... stilll the whole toolbar on neo is missing for me.... even when neo changed the layout.. the toolbar still won't show up for me... so i don't know what went wrong with mine.

This is true. I also don't like how big the upper third is. Sorry, by upper third I mean the tabs, menus and toolbars, as well as the address bar. They're too big, and not good looking.

This is true. They pretty much went for safer browsing than IE, which they do quite well. I disagree with calling it marketing, simply because they're a nonprofit and they're doing it for pretty much altruistic reasons.

This is pretty much why I use it as well. Everything works in firefox. Always. The only thing that pissed me off was that some websites did that 'we only cater to IE and netscape based browsers can't view us' thing. But most of them have stopped, so I'm happy (yay mapleglobal.com!).

It is right in some ways. Often on my computer it uses an extreme amount of RAM that it shouldn't need to use and IE does not have that problem. Regardless since I'm so used to it I use FF (yes I will continue using that instead of Fx) anyways.

so....Internet explorer (6) does not support tabbed browsing. the MSN toobar extention does. that would be like me saying neopets supports chjeat programs because they are compatable with their site. phail.

Regardless of whatever is written out there about Firefox, I couldn't possibly believe it's slower than IE or Opera when I see the contrary with my own eyes.
Plus, it's never been unstable for me so far.
I'm not a Windows hater, but IE is not their best product.

    Opera = Yes

Any of them will work fine for the majority of people, they all have problems, and they all have pro's and con's, I use firefox 100% but I'm not going to say it owns IE or it owns all other browsers smile.gif All personal preference. I agree that website is on Opera's side but it DOES give you links as proof so its not 100% BS

yeah, there is a lot of "opera is the bestest" going on there...

i got on to FF a while back *because* of the tabbed browsing, it's been great, and has helped keep down clutter. so no wonder it might take up more space... but whatever, i likes it.

Alright...a quick trial of Opera told me that I'm just too used to FireFox ^-^ I have it customized how I like it with an Adblocker and an Auto refresher...

I think my distaste for IE7 probably stems from a distaste for Windows...I had an office job for a few months, and it was the worst job I'd ever seen o.O Microsoft and Apple...don't really like either. Linux is awesome...but I don't have it, haha.
