He was right in getting arrested though, just the whole process wasn't followed through.

Funny, I've never heard them read someone their rights when they were trying to take them down. I'm pretty sure they don't have to do that until they take them into custody. I'm very confident he was read his miranda rights as they were going out...otherwise he'd have let people know.

And I think you'll find that it isn't just England who dislikes America.

All he had to do was follow simple rules. When a cop tells you to stop, you stop. The kid was nuts...obviously a little punk based on his reaction to the police.
All he had to say was,
"Excuse me officer, I've asked Senator Kerry a question. Senator Kerry, would you mind answering the question?"
Something else to think of here.
If this isn't staged, I mean if he wasn't trying to make a scene...why do all the vids only start when he begins talking? Why is the beginning chopped off?
Next, is he really just asking a question? There are officers behind him from the start of the video...obviously something else was going on before this started.
Just watched this yet again...he's on the ground pulling his arms away from the cops who are trying to cuff him yelling get the bark off of me.
That's why he gets tasered...plain and simple.
Woo Hoo...the police report came out!
Police report
Andrew Meyer has been described as "a known prankster who often posts practical jokes online."[13] His website, www.theandrewmeyer.com, contains videos posted by Meyer including pranks against Harry Potter fans along with a written diatribe against the media and the Iraq War. An official police report claims that Meyer asked a woman if she was recording him moments before beginning his questions.[10] The report claims that "as [Meyer] was escorted down stairs with no cameras in sight, he remained quiet, but once the cameras made their way down stairs he started screaming and yelling again." Additionally, the report claims that Meyer was "laughing and being lighthearted in the car, his demeanor completely changed once the cameras were not in sight."[5]The police officers claim that during the ride, Meyer said that "I am not mad at you guys, you didn't do anything wrong, you were just trying to do your job."[1]
here's the pdf of the police report...obviously 1-sided for the cops, but mentions the fact that the director in charge of the forum asked that the kid be removed.

As you can see in the video, he is still moving when on the ground. As they try to pry his arm up to cuff him, he won't comply. They have a choice between tasing him or breaking his arm.

Don't try to make it black and white. Ten years ago they wouldn't have had to break his arm to get him to submit, and they wouldn't have been able to use a Tazer to get him to either. There are numerous methods to detain an individual, and a tazer is not one of them. A Tazer is a pursuit weapon, or at least it is supposed to be. Guy runs away from you, you shoot him with a taze to keep him from getting away. It was never supposed to act as a suppressant.

Ten years ago they probably would have done the same thing, if not worse.
What's most disappointing about it is how people just sat there and watched.

... and then went home to blog about it.
I love what Stephen Colbert had to say about that
