if you're referring to consequentialism, then yes it will still apply and be used.. until the very last human community dies out.

I can't do much of the information filling-in, I don't even remember what I had for breakfast. ...or if I even had breakfast.

I did a speech in my First Year Seminar speech contrasting Machiavelli with Hannah Arent who wrote about the Holocaust. People have good intentions usually, they really do I think. People especially those in charge will think the ends justify the means. In some cases is does, it really does, but in some cases... not so much. I don't know about Tony Blair (as in I haven't done research about a lot of political decisions he has made, not saying I don't know who he is or his significance) but there are many cases where they do justify the means however there are those select few cases which will go down in history so long as books and writing or human tongue exists that do not justify the means. Machiavelli speaks of what the Prince must do to keep his country stable no matter how much he rapes and pillages other countries.

I believe Hitler did the same. Germany was quickly crashing with galloping inflation. People were suffering greatly and in some instances brought wheelbarrows full of their almost useless banknotes to just buy basic groceries like apples. Hitler got their morale up. He trained the soldiers, got the economy up, won battles. He truly was a great man in the literal meaning of great. He was massive. He took over many countries often all too easily. Some were literally given over to him. He brought his country into greatness and his people for the most part loved him. He healed perfectly the backbone of Germany that was shattered after WWI. However he almost... got cocky. I think he did things too quickly and it's a very human mistake to make in fact I believe many leaders over the years have made the same one. Everything was too easy but I don't think he knew how much he was provoking the other powers of the world. If he had just only... inched just closer and closer to the final goal very slowly maybe he could have made it without provoking them. I don't know. Hitler's a perfect example of what he thought the ends justified the means. However the means have a tendency to piss the wrong people off when you do them unfortunately for those who use that strategy.

I don't know how much you can relate my late night babbling to Tony Blair but I hope it helps (is this a homework assignment?)
