So he made it on top of a few charts and he was okay? After a while, man this guy and all these other "black hillbilly" rappers should just quit. I mean, they aren't even making sense in most of their songs. If you were in my time when Tupac, Eazy - E, Dr Dre, Snoop, West side, and the Notorious BIG was around, you'd think rap today would be even better. But it seems these rap artists today have not learned much of anything...I'm a fan of the 90's-96's....not much of todays rap music. I wish if Tupac really was alive he would come back and all these rappers today would just die in the music industry.
Anyone else sick of Soulja Boy?

As I've been saying to my friends... this song was super popular and cool for about 2 minutes. Then after the 30th time people heard that song (probably the same day they heard it the first time), it got old.

I would agree with you, but sadly, Kanye West exists.

Yeah, Kanye West is lyrical and he is not that bad in my opinion. I want to see Dr. Dre who was a part of the reason why we had those rappers back in the day make some kind of a comeback.

Kanye is this king right now. He not only creates a good beat but has good lyrics.

Rap nowadays is created for dancing in the club. For getting crunk, hyphy, throwed, whatever you want to call it. It's not rap.
Sadly, most rap is 'stoner rap' like Three 6 Mafia etc, all about getting stoned/drunk/whatever.
The last GOOD rap I heard was Nas a couple years ago.

After my homecoming, where we'll probably dance to it, then it'll probably get tiring.
I like it though. Like everyone said already, "rap" isn't really the same anymore. It's all about whether or not it sounds good and if you can dance to it.
Which isn't a horrible thing, because I love dancing, but there needs to be a balance.
/sigh

Man, I so agree with you. Like, have you heard Mims? This is why I'm hot.....yeah thats also a song showing thats why you can't rap. Just like all the other losers out there, they seem to disappear from the music scene after a few months, they might come back rarely but after that theyre gone. Nas was okay. He was starting crap with other people which he had no business getting into. He has some good music but I don't like him overall.

totally agrees, i've been telling my friend since 95, that soon, rap is no longer going to be about the words, it's goiing to be about the beat and how the rapper voice sounds with the beat, you listen to earlier rap like back in the NWA days, the beats were garbage but the lyrics was what drove the record, now you just throw any rapper into a nice club beat with some base, and modify the voice and you have a club hit.... shame, but i make beats, so it's what i was expecting to happen.

An exception to that would be Express Yourself...I'm not really into rap but I love that tune. Great beat and the lyrics are awesome.

Imagine ME being tired of it working in a MUSIC STORE!
" Ay! Ay! Ya'll got that Souja Boy?!"
And then some white person walks up:
"Hey do ya'll have something called 'Soldier Boy?"
Hahahaha.
God. We sold out like, the first day we got his shit.
I haven't heard it but I can't stand most rap anyways so I'm not
even going to bother. Plus I saw the cd cover and it turned me off instantly.
