News Update - December 14, 2007

Alright everyone... the stuff that I couldn't tell you yesterday. tongue.gif

New Programming Leader
Please join me in welcoming Raui to the Programming Leader team! At this point in time, we are advising Raui on what his new duties will be and what he will be responsible for on the board. We believe it is important to have a strong programming leadership so that programming activities, events, and our pride in making programming products remain as strong as ever.

So once again, congratulations Raui!

Item Network Under Construction
Construction is now planned to resume on the Neocodex Items Database. For those who are unfamiliar with it, our intention is to build and maintain a database of Neopets prices and items and have our programs automatically update and/or retrieve prices from this database. The advantages? Faster autobuyers, the prospect of instant item lookups without being wizard banned, and because it's just cool. All kinds of programs can benefit from this system; namely: main shop and user shop autobuyers, auction autobidders, autopricers, etc... (anything that needs reliable pricing).

We hope to give you regular status updates on how the project is going, and if we need help. If you have any ideas for the system, be sure to send a PM to either me, Laser Wave or Raui and the ideas will get to the right place. smile.gif

He forgot one of the main advantages. Automatic AB lists. biggrin.gif

So no need to have to resort to begging for lists or actually taking the effort to make your own. Just open the program, login and leave it to it's work while it chooses which items are profitable and populates the database with new items automatically at the same time.

There's also many others little tools which can be created from the database but I'll leave those as surprises. biggrin.gif

sounds great! I always have trouble with lists.

Would codex be able to have its own SSW then? finding the lowest priced items?

It could have a kind of shop wiz where you can lookup prices but not the actual usershops, it's almost impossible to keep a database of ~19,000 items with up to date user shops. tongue.gif

You'll see what I mean when/if it gets finished. thumbsup.gif

Now there's one programmer that deserves senior: LW

We had already an item database XD I remember that I added a few itens prices. Don't forget that we'll always in need to update this prices. Will be a lot of hard work, unless it auto-update the prices by searching the wizard every 15 minutes and getting the lowest...

The users price the database by running the autobuyer. It all works together so it's a win-win situation. biggrin.gif

The users benefit by getting access to an autobuyer, and everyone else benefits because the user is pricing items at the same time. tongue.gif

    congrats raui smile.gif

i always thought it would be cool to have like a tri-website AB list, managing an entire database..and each site could use it in whichever way they pleased. i guess that interferes with rivalries and other trivial bullshit, but it's still a cool idea biggrin.gif
