Trading Post Developments
I have received an update on the status of the trading post, and like I said, when I received an update I would tell you all about it. smile.gif

Basically, the system is estimated to be about 60% completed and is anticipated to be completed for around Christmas time. Here is a little sneak peak (without giving too much away), just to prove that I'm not blowing steam about the entire thing. tongue.gif

The system is also highly anticipated to also use the power of the Neocodex Items Database for item information and such, so we'll see what happens in that area. tongue.gif

Item Database

Work on the Neocodex Items Database has restarted. Here is a brief list on what work has been done so far and what needs to be done still:
  • Items Information
    • At this point in time, we have collected nearly all of the object ID's and item names that we need. Currently, the item count sits at 16,930 (link: http://items.neocodex.us).
  • Communication Scripts
    • Right now, what we are working on are the actual scripts that the server will use to communicate with the database. There are basically two phases to the entire server part of the whole operation: the update procedure and the data retrieval part. The data retrieval part is nearly complete, as it doesn't take much to just ask the server for information about an item and send it to where it needs to go. The more tedious side of things is the update procedure. Basically, what needs to be done here is that the script must successfully collect whatever information it is given about an item, extract necessary information it needs, and update the item's listing in the server. The most important part of the update is the pricing, because if the pricing is not reliable, the server as a whole will not be reliable.
  • Client Software
    • This part of the project includes the code that you actually put into your program to communicate with the server. I can't explain too much about this part of it since a definite plan hasn't been created yet, but it will need to login with a proper session ID and other credentials, request data from the server and send data to the server properly.
So what I'm doing right this minute is the Communication Scripts. tongue.gif

The items will be priced by users running an Autobuyer. wink.gif So it'll be self-pricing and self-populating. biggrin.gif

Will there be a new Autobuyer, or is it just going to be incorporated into some of the existing ones?

We want to try and incorporate it into as many programs as we can, including autopricers, usershop autobuyers and autobidders. So hopefully it becomes more of a standard than anything. tongue.gif

    this looks awesome smile.gif.

a couple suggestions that im taking from the database on digibliss years ago..

    - rank the top pricers, it will encourage people to price as many as they can
    - with the list create a make-shift shop wizard, so somebody using codex can search a accurately priced database if they don't have a neopets account/other related circumstances

Well everyone will benefit but I would imagine the current rules of Mainshop Autobuyers for Advanced+ would still be the same.

That would leave normal members to benefit from everything else like usershop autobuyers etc. ;)

(If you were talking about the trading post one then I have no idea tongue.gif)

For real currency, no, but as far as I know, you can bid using items and neopoints.
