Well hello all.
Yea, im back....
sooner than i would like to have thought i would be

I shipped to iraq November 30th, and on december 21st My convoy took a hit from an IED, 1 soldier did not make it. PFC Howell died while bleeding out during combat. I received extensive burns on my back and broke both of my legs, and my left collar bone. 3 other soldiers were also injured. After spending a few days in a hospital in Kirkuk, then was flown to Mosul. Stayed for 1 day then flown to alanta, then back to Ft. Benning with were i awaited medical review until January 12th. Then back home to AZ.

I was in 7 recored firefights, lost 2 men in my platton, and another 12 in my battalion.
I had 13 recored kills, and received my CIB (combat infantry badge) after just 3 days of being in Kirkuk.
I also killed a 12 year old boy, because he had a TOY gun.

Oh yea, I believe urban once told me people only join the military for collage benefits.....
Now I get to use them....

I also killed a 12 year old boy, because he had a TOY gun. 1 to the head, 2 to the chest, just like i was taught. Then got to watch his mom cry. My squad leader had to shoot his father in the leg cause he ran after me with a knife. I couldn't blame him.
Fuck bush. Fuck terrorists.

oh yea, i did not leave codex on a good note, so sorry.
Still dont think i will be that active

oh yea, and please dont take it the wrong way.

if you ever think you might like to, you should see a psychiatrist or something, make sure you don't get any kind of weird... sideaffects.. from going through such things. no harm in going.

You did what you had to and came out alive, its what humans do.
I really do not know what to say other than that. I am truly at a loss for words.

Some kids in my neighborhood set off some firecrackers. I grabbed my AR-15 and ran outside. Almost shot my car..... Only side effects so far.

Are you home for good now?

Surely they don't expect you to go back after that, right?

Holy cow, you've had it rough man. I have nothing, but respect for you. I'm really glad to hear that you are safe, I hope the physical healing process goes well. I don't know how I would even be mentally stable after seeing what went down over there.

No, I will be given a medically honorable discharge If I want it, because of my injuries, I may not be allowed to be infantry. I will have to settle for the "ash and trash". Its what us grunts call the support.

But no. I have mood swings. I feel really proud, and ashamed of what I did.

    Salaamu alaykum.

I remember you. Its interesting to see how radically your views changed. I can't say much, seeing as I've never been, but I'm proud of your service, and I hope you know that you'll be given the same respect that Vietnam veterans are given. And the part about you feeling proud and ashamed, thats just you being human. If you didn't feel bad, you might not be human.

i support you but not bush (like you said). In vietnam kids would run up to you with a grenade in their hand and try hug you. This war is fucked up just like vietnam. Our pres. should be impeached and convicted of war crimes. Do you have to go back to combat? Get well, good luck. -stefan
