Correct, here's my method though while you're waiting.
I'll explain how to do the maths in case somebody else wants to make a program to do it while they're waiting. tongue.gif
First, you translate your keys into numbers:
So ABCD would become 1234 and GDBCAFD would be 7423164 etc
Then you add each corresponding character to each other in the keys.
So if we have the keys:
DBCD
BBDC
BCDA
CBDB
They would be:
4234
2243
2341
3242
And added vertically:
4+2+2+3 = 11
2+2+3+2 = 9
3+4+4+4 = 15
4+3+1+2 = 10
Now we see how many different characters we have in our modifier keys:
In the case above it's 4 (A,B,C,D).
So we work out what the remainder is when the numbers above are divided by 4.
4*2 = 8. 11-8 = 3
4*2 = 8. 9-8 = 1
4*3 = 12. 15-12 = 3
4*2 = 8. 10-8 = 2
So 3,1,3,2 would become
CACB which would be the final result of the encoding. So you just need to do this for every combination and see which one comes out as the right result.

The inbuilt converter you made converts the references the wrong way xD
You have an output of 4 -> 7, instead of 7 -> 4.
4 should convert to 17
Laser, why do you fail at being on MSN?
I could have told you way easier

For those of you who haven't finished the Decoding:
While you can, you really should read the little information blips they give you. You can get some pretty tasty nuggets of nostalgia.
Like this one:
"Station Security Update: Ignore previous alert. There is nothing to worry about. All mysterious ships in the docking bay are hereby considered authorized and may come and go as they please. Everything's fine, we're all fine, here, now, thank you."
All it needed was a "How're you?"

Damn you Gayser Wave.
Well we're past the hard bit now so it should improve over the next 24-48 hours as more and more people solve their puzzles.

The problem with getting popular is they don't post unless its to bitch about how it isn't working or to say thank you. Thats it. No more. Basically, we've got 80+ people mooching off of here that we will never see again, using up bandwidth for no reason. They are choking off those of us who are normally here for their own benefit. In other words, they are selfish bastards.
