Alright, so I feel a woman of my age should know all this stuff already but I can't remember and I'm kind of wondering.

"Down below" I seem to be getting a lot of discharge and it smells strong to me. Like, I'm wondering if any other people can smell it. I change my underwear after I smell it for a bit but I end up changing underwear like twice a day sometimes.

I've never had sex of any kind. I had my period this month although it nearing a new month I guess. I also drink a lot of caffiene.

Any ideas? Also, do you think drinking more water would help? I guess I don't drink that much normally.

Douches are not a good thing to use. I suggest not recommending something to someone that you know nothing about.

As for your issue, you may have some kind of infection. I'm not really sure, but it's certainly a possibility.
I don't know about the caffeine either... If it gets like, really bad, you may want to go to your gyno and get checked to see
if you have an infection. >.<

lol, I'm not sure if this is the first topic of this sort codex has had or not....

feminine discharge is normal, but if it becomes discolored, or if you think the smell is unnatural, see a doctor. for the time being, use a feminine wash, they are made to deal with this exact kind of situation, it will help to keep the area clean and free of odor; wash regularily, and if you think that in the middle of the day it might become a bit rank, there are feminine wipes you can buy, they're like moist towlettes, but you can use them in the bathroom, a quich wipe to clean the area.

but again, if you think something's up, see a doctor.

I'm against douching and such things.

Also, it's the normal color and it smells normal, it just seems realy really strong. Also, it seems to get like this ever month and then after my period it's very little.

yeah, I get the same around the time of ovulation; I believe it's that more mucus is being made to help facilitate any possible incomings of sperms to get to the egg.

I'm just worried that other people can smell it and think I'm really horny or something. I dunno. Everything is normal, just strong smelling and what I think is a lot of discharge.

I heard caffeine can cause that if you drink a lot and stuff. So I was wondering.

So either have sex or just clean it or what? <<

well, I'm not too sure about that..... I doubt caffiene would have an effect on such matters.

so yeah, just clean it. the wipes me and goobabutt are discussing would be a good idea to look for when you can't shower and just need a bit of freshening up. lol

Don't worry. A lot of girls have that and it's perfectly normal. Also no one else can smell it and if they could they wouldn't even know what it was smile.gif As our hormones change (I assume therefore you are not on the pill) we have different scents and different types of discharge. As you mentioned this happens pretty much right after you start to ovulate. It's a smell that sort of acts as a pheromone or at least used to from what I understand. Basically telling people you are the most fertile right now. Of course normal humans cannot smell this and I'm sure it's left over from a long time ago. As of course right after your period you are no longer really fertile it will go away. It's nothing to worry about at all.

If, however, it starts smelling like yeast (like a wine cellar or baking bread) you may want to go to the doctor as it may be infected. Never had one myself though so I don't know exactly how it feels. I hear it's erm... itchy though.

Well, it's a stimulant and such so I dunno. I'm just thinking it might be it. I'll check out the wipes next time I go to the store. Ah, it's so good to know. It's just really embarrassing to me. Also, thinking maybe I'll try pantyliner too, although they tend to hold moisture.

If caffeine can cause sperm to swim faster in the womb I'm certain it could effect you as well tongue.gif Besides it's just not healthy to depend on caffeine to get through the day. Oh... right. And I don't know if you do or don't but during times when it's more moist don't wear silk underwear if you do. It would be better to just wear cotton. It allows you to breathe. Also... you said it earlier but I don't know if you were joking or not... this won't stop after you stop being a virgin tongue.gif

/says basically the same thing everyone else says

The moist wipes are pretty nifty, and carrying pantyliners with you is a good idea if you don't want to run through underwear like a 2 year old. If it gets too bad very often, ask your doctor about it. smile.gif Yay for redundancy!

As Tet has already said (but I feel the need the maturely answer as well to and make up for all the silly little boys tongue.gif), it's really nothing to worry about. It's completely normal, every woman has a smell, just it's different from woman to woman. I've actually read up on a couple of sites about it and the only thing they seem to suggest it could be except normal is a type of STI, which you certainly don't need to bother about.

So aside from that, these wipes foogie and brookus are mentioning sound good, or a pantyliner ^-^.

Edit: Also, looking at a few sites that talk about diet, people do seem to think it changes the smell. A couple of said water seems to get rid of their smell (as in drinking a lot of it) and certain fruits and things make it better, I have no clue how true that is or whether it's just physcological, you might want to check it out a bit yourself (as in on the internet) to see if you want to go along with it or not tongue.gif.

Well as everyone said above if its dicolored or a different smell or you are worried go vistit a doctor and ask about it but from what you said...

I advise LOTS of water, fruits and pineapple juice is good too but mainly water and if you are against douching then maybe try and just use the douche bottle filled with water or sock in a bath (using sea salt helps) the reason why this happens is because the lining of your uterus sheads dururing each period and and causes your discharge to be a little thicker or more ... each person is different!
