Hell of a lot more then 1

Winston Churchill - The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter.

Benjamin Franklin - Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

George W. Bush - A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it.

SimonTheMime - Americans live, breathe, eat, and drink the fruits of capitalism, and they've become fat and repugnant. The average American has little or no awareness on the exploitation its society inflicts on third world countries so that they can enjoy their materialistic luxuries.

Slogan (I think Marx) - 'From each according to his ability, to each according to his need'

A couple I have in a notepad of quotes tongue.gif

"Hate is baggage. Life is too short to be pissed off all the time." Danny Vinyard

Bob Sweeney: There was a moment... when I used to blame everything and everyone... for all the pain and suffering and vile things that happened to me, that I saw happen to my people. Used to blame everybody. Blamed white people, blamed society, blamed God. I didn't get no answers 'cause I was asking the wrong questions. You have to ask the right questions.
    Derek Vinyard: Like what?

Juror #11: Doesn't even speak good English.

Juror #5: Boy oh boy, it's really hot, huh? Pardon me, but don't you ever sweat?

as nice and positive as that quote is, it is not really true... seeing as how close the moon is to the earth... and seeing as how far away the nearest star is... the only way you'd land among the stars if if you overshot the moon... otherwise you'd end up somewhere between where you started and the moon... I wonder which gravitational pull you'd be sucked into... the earths, or the moons... *ponders*

I learnt about conic sections in one of the last lectures before Easter. If she approached the moon at the right speed she could get pulled into it's gravitational pull and use it to sling shot herself across space, either by the path of an elipse, parabola or hyperbola. So I guess, as you would be heading for the moon anyway, if you missed it, she could be brought into orbit around it for a bit, except her orbit wouldn't be circular tongue.gif. Then she might find a star ^-^.

Well -obviously- for that you just blow up a few balloons and strap them to your wrists, some are helium to aid your floating, others are air so you can breathe. Duuh. NASA came up with that years ago, read up on this sort of thing Cody.

Question: What happens if you inhale in space...? Is there an "atmosphere" of sorts? What are you breathing... if anything? What is "space" made of? Energy? Matter? I'm seriously tripping myself the fuck out at some of these thoughts... blink.gif

Isn't it the idea that there's just nothing in space? I mean I guess there must be some kind of energy, what with all the heat the sun gives off and all the movement and everything, but as far as what we as humans can make use of with just ourselves, pretty sure all that happens is we die. No clue if what they go on about is true about you basically like...blowing up, it might just be something dramatic they put in sitcoms tongue.gif But yeah.

I mean.... how can we fathom the concept of nothing...? It would appear that there is always something... even if it is just... space? What a concept... it really brings me to a very archetypal theme of several trips of mine... that everything = nothing... but everything = everything... simultaneously.

I agree, to think of nothing, certainly to my mind, is to think of black, but oddly, I think of endless black, the same as I would were I to think of infinity. If it wasn't endless, something would have to take it's place, and then it wouldn't be nothing. I find it an impossibly hard concept to grasp, I mean, we never really see 'nothing', do we?

And it came to me then. That we were wonderful travelling companions, but in the end no more than lonely lumps of metal on their own separate orbits. From far off they look like beautiful shooting stars, but in reality they're nothing more than prisons, where each of us is locked up alone, going nowhere. When the orbits of these two satellites of ours happen to cross paths, we could be together. Maybe even open our hearts to each other. But that was only for the briefest moment. In the next instant we'd be in absolute solitude. Until we burned up and became nothing. - Sputnik Sweetheart by Haruki Murakami

You misquoted Benjamin Franklin, its paraphrased of David Hume.

    My personal favorites:

"The whole is more than the sum of the parts" - Aristotle
"And you, old sir, we are told you prospered once." - Homer
"You cannot direct the wind, but you can adjust the sail" - Unknown
"True glory consists in doing what deserves to be written; in writing what deserves to be read." - Publius Syrus (I love it because its kind of recursive)
"It is from their foes, not their friends, that cities learn the lesson of building high walls." - Aristophanes
