So, it's that time of the year for us in the final year of highschool (college if you live in Britain), and we're finding (or we already have) from the Collegs/Universities we've applied to. I thought it would be cool to find out where we're all going next year. Who knows, maybe some of us will end up in similar areas. biggrin.gif

Anyway, as most of you know already, I've made the final decision to attend Parsons School of Design in the wonderful New York City.

Im still in grade 11 but I'm applying for BCIT when I graduate. If that doesn't work out I'm also applying at UBC and SFU.

Although I've been taking two years of an Interactive Multimedia class at a technical school during my Junior and Senior year at high school, I'm likely going to try to get into MIT. If that doesn't work out, I'll try getting into Carnegie Mellon University, University of California - Berkeley, or University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

    Either:

    A) Oxford Christian Institute
    B) Southern Evangelical Seminary (SES)

Haven't decided yet, most likely B though.

    What're you planning to be?

Probably going to run my own Apologetics Ministry. Most of the major apologetics like Geisler, Zacharias, Strobel, etc. have graduated from SES and now all have their own ministries. Essentially what happens is you open up a ministry, hire people on etc., and use it as a platform to do/release research. I plan on going to a minor college after I get my doctorates from either SES or OCI to get a degree in archeology as I plan to do/help excavations over in Israel as part of my research. I may eventually start my own church but that's all in the future so I'm not sure tongue.gif

    What's an apologetics ministry? =P

Apologetics are basically evangelistic Christian scientists tongue.gif
So by my thoughts, it is basically a ministry that has Jesus and Science coexisting peacefully.

It's not like "Young Earth creationism" is it?

It can be. The topics range from young earth creationism, to God starting the Big Bang. It just depends on what you choose to do your research on.

Oh I see. So do all apologetics believe the same stuff or is based on pending research?

It's like the science community. Some believe in multiple universes, some believe in multiple realities, some just believe one universe started by the Big Bang, etc. etc. The apologetic ministry is pretty colorful, we even got people like Francis Collins (The famous man who led the Human Genome Project) who contribute to our research (He has a famous book called "Language of God" where he relates the complexity of DNA to God).

I get it now =P What part are you planning to do your research in?

Most likely I'll focus on archeology as it's one of my favorite subjects (and a really fun job tongue.gif). This coming summer I'm taking a trip to Israel for about 2 months to go down with some archaeologists and see what they do, how they live, etc. Should be fun smile.gif

Sounds like killer times ohmy.gif I was always curious as to how archeologists get paid. I mean it's not like they sell their finding and if they did it's not like they find something all the time.

Well it's just like apologetics really. They get funded by churches, ministries, etc. Their not like rich because really they are in it for the fun/experience not the money. They get enough to make a decent living over there and fund all of their excavations. It may not seem like they find much but you'd be amazed at how many ancient biblical cities we have found over there. Some even date back to Genesis. One of our greatest discoveries over there was a city of the ancient Philistines which previously had been labeled as a fairy tale by secular critics. We found a wealth of information, buildings, writings, etc. all that confirmed what the Bible had originally stated. Needless to say the critics were shut out smile.gif

    Which city was it?

Apologetics is most simply a defense of the faith.

I'm going to University of Texas - Austin.

Just got into NCSU today (Where I'll most likely go). I got into UNCW with a scholarship and have been planning to room with a friend, but that will probably change. Patrick, I know you haven't posted yet, but I remember you applied to UNCH, did you get in?

Josh, how exactly does this field of research/science work? I'm curious about how you relate your discoveries to the existance of a god.

Yeh, it sounds pretty interesting really. I was just confused at how you can go about proving gods existence through these different fields. You make a connection between things like passages from the bible and science for example?
