Hello.
Over the past few weeks I've been working on a "pet"-site thing, and I thought I'd show you guys some screenshots of what I got so far.
Right now it got a completed user system, item system, stores that restock, boards, character system (I call them characters, and not pets. There's just too many sites that call them pets) +++.
Registrations are currently closed to the public, but if anyone's interested in testing or something, I'll give you an invite.

Also, if there are any good graphic artists or flash people that want to join/help me out, PLEASE contact me.

Tell me what you think of it. smile.gif

I'd be glad to be a tester. It's summer here, not much to do...

But I advise you to change your currency name to something more unique. smile.gif Mezo? I take it you were once/are an MS player?

    MapleStory?
Never really played it, just heard about it. tongue.gif
They use a currency like that?
I just based the name on the name of the site.

    Thanks for the tip!

Yeah. Not totally the same though. Maybe I'll just keep using what I got, and then change it later if somebody complains. smile.gif
I'll send you the code to signup in a PM sunday or monday, because I'm not going to be home again until sunday evening.

Erik, shouldn't you be working on a basic C CGI library with a template engine? lol

Seriously though, there are enough pet sites in the world. I mean, even Subeta is hardly known. It is a low profit, pointless, over-done area of entertainment.

Muffins are sad because deep inside they know they are just ugly cupcakes.

I sorta agree with Ink. There are hundreds of pet sites really, so it'd be hard to make this one successful.

It does look very nice though happy.gif.

for me standard pet sites have been done - and you really need a new angle

one of the best ideas for a petsite i have seen was creature breeder - where all the creatures were developed by genetic mating - i thought the idea of pets where the site developers don't know how the pets will end up

the problem with that site was i felt it was way too focused on just farming loads of pets, there was nothing to really pull a community together other than to share and breed cool pets (that died after a few weeks)

i thought a site were you have only 3-4 pets, and it was less 'breeding' and more exchanging - this happened by meeting other pets and either having fun with them where the genetic algos would choose one path, or you could battle other pets and this would cause other genetic algos to take place (i was thinking the fun algos would be more for learning, happyness, look, feel, etc... and the battle algos would be for strength, power, activities, different look/feel stuff)

there could still be breeding as that would be pretty similar to a meeting.

you could trade/sell cool pets, there could also be items that allow you to transform your pets without the need of other pets - to add things into the genetic makeup or the pet like fluffyness.

maybe you can make it a bit more complicated by actually making 'items' which can be obtained to select the type of genetic you want to transfer into other pets so that they can have that attribute as well. Something like transfering claws to fishes that kind of thing.

yeah, somethings like that - only in a more comunity/MMO type of thing

that was the idea - you could by a potion of fluffyness that would add some fluffyness - you could add another and make it even more fluffy etc... - all of them would just be triats so you could mix and match as much as you liked to see what turns up
