So, how many of you folks have had the fortune to see people around you flooded and be perfectly safe? tongue.gif

Currently, every house across the river from where I live is flooded. EVERY SINGLE HOUSE, anyone that isn't a weirdo hermit has been evacuated from that area. The city that's about a 25-30 minute drive away (Fredericton) is currently at risk, with the downtown district now being closed, due to water covering some of the main roads (and a lot of the public parking).

So, discuss local minor disasters and how you've coped!

P.S - I'll post pictures up later.

I have seen stuff on the news about flooding (Mississippi), but fortunately nothing has happened around my area. We did get a LOT of rain a couple days ago, but nothing serious.

I've heard that the east has gotten massive amounts of rain recently though, just wondering if that's what you're talking about tongue.gif

Yep, Fredericton is in the east so that would make sense (capital of New Brunswick). tongue.gif

As a hilarious bonus, as a result of our St. John River flooding, the floods have carried on to Maine as well tongue.gif

Well, some Americans are complaining of a water crisis.... so your province is doing a good deed by sending some their way. tongue.gif

Rockford's been having huge amounts of rain too and all the expensive homes around the Rock River (totally original name, gaiz!) have been flooded. The river's about two feet above the flood stage right now :\ It's actually been happening all winter because we've been getting ice dams in the bridges where it gets all clogged up so no water can pass through.

So yeah. I'm on a hill so I can relate to your fortune biggrin.gif No water will touch me happy.gif Anyways I'm figuring it's because of the massive snow melt from last year's huge amount of snow you got. Well... at least you'll have plenty of good drinking water?

Actually, because the St. John River is extremely polluted, thousands of wells have had their water polluted.

PERSONALLY my well is nice and full as a result, other people aren't so lucky.

Hurricane Ivan was pretty fun =P I think we were some of the only people in our neighborhood who didn't evacuate, and we received like, no damage at all. A couple hours after the storm went passed, we went driving around town, and it was freaky, there was just about NO ONE there. Stop lights out, the whole highway deserted, parking lots empty, it was unreal =P

Actually I've been flooded before and I live nowhere near any rivers or at the bottom of a hill or anything. These things can happen almost anywhere...

Apart from last summer during the heavy rain when we came home from holiday to find an inch of water in our hallway.

It's been rainning a lot here in my country, so flooding is not that hard to see. Good thing that is not in my area exaclty.
