there's this new program going on throughout the military. this is mainly for those already enlisted (such as myself). anyway, the whole idea, is to get soldiers interested in helping the recruiters. i'm not telling everyone to join or anything like that, but if you ARE thinking of joining (and it doesn't matter what branch.. airforce, navy, etc...) send me a pm (or give me your msn/aim), and there's info i need to take for you. if you do decide to enlist, and get through basic training and ait, i can get up to like $1000.

so yeah, just something i'm throwing out there. if you're interested, lemme know, and i'll find out more info about each branch you're interested in. thumbsup.gif

not really... they do all that stuff for you after you sign up.

all i have to do is take some info for you, put it in this database under my name, and if you join, it finds me and lets me know your progress and shit.

I'd join if we were actually fighting for a noble cause. But unfortunately I can't bring myself to join a military that's backed by exploiting capitalist pigs and fights for imperialistic gains rather than defensive gains.

well, yes. very good point, except that Bush won't be in office for *too* much longer, and if you time everything right, you'll be able to leave basic training (which is almost 3 months now for the army), and ait (which changes depending on your MOS)

and you don't even have to join now. as long as the info is in the system, we'd get paid whenever you decide to join. it's basically just used as an incentive for soldiers to help out with recruiting.

i'll re-iterate, not a scam, and you don't *have* to give me any info if you want to join anyway. it's just that if you're gonna join, you might as well help out a buddy make some money :\

Believe me, if you think 19 push ups is hard...wait till you get out of bootcamp, then you can laugh at it. You'll be doing 19 push ups in seconds.

Even if one doesn't believe in the president, serving the military is always a noble cause. Protect the country, yes, maybe fight in a war you don't like... but that's patriotism for ya. Or because you want to better yourself. The military certainly helps you do that.

It's pretty pathetic if anyone thinks 19 push ups is a lot.

Do the people you sign up get any of the cash Murderkill?

You could get lucky (or smart) and not have to participate in the war anyway. There are tons of things not involved over there. Like the Coast Guard. Or Navy. (Though this post was started so murder (Army) could get some cash flow, and he'd only get it if someone joined the Army.) But using the military as a way to further one's self is a *great* idea and use. You give 4-6 years (depending on contract, MOS, bonus, etc) they give you a free education, and employers want what soldiers and military people have. Nothing can teach you teamwork like being in the military.

    LOL, that's a joke right?

My brother has failed his physical test twice due to the pushups. You have to do 40 in a certain time limit. He was 5 seconds short last time =( He has another test coming up this weekend I believe.

oh yeah i forgot you guys dont live in estonia. We dont have an active military here, we basically have something like militia in WC3 where we can call the peasants (men who've gone thru mandatory 1 year training in the army) to arms when the need rises.

hmm. didn;t know that. wouldn;t it take a long time to mobilize if the need was to come about?

i agree with that. i play college football and we have a few guys who finished tours oversees and are now on our team. they are the best team/task oriented people we have... plus one or two of them are crazy enough to have almost no regard for their bodies... which kinda helps

Not really, Estonia is really small. It's like only 45,227 sq km (17,412 sq miles)

I was DEP'd into the Marines so I could lose 15 pounds before they sent me to boot camp. I worked out with them for 6 months straight. Got my muscle up, fat down, neck down, and learned a lot from them. Time came to ship out, they booted me because I didn't lose the last 5 pounds, despite a massive diet (oatmeal and plain chicken breast for 6 days straight). I am also a Navy brat, and have done all of my school research papers on some military subject or another. Going to try to get into the Navy once I hit 200 pounds again. Or just get a few years older and wait for the weight to go up again. haha. (Kidding.)

Most military people I've known have been some of the greatest people I've known in my life. Whether or not they go to war, or believe in war, (and some were pacifists. figure that out.) but joining for any purpose gets rid of any selfishness related to joining...any reason, so long as you're there.

Mad respect to anyone in the military.

That's pretty cool. What was your target weight for the Marines? Also, is it height based or do they have a strict cut off for weight no matter what your height is? blink.gif

The Navy... in St. Cloud? blink.gif I guess they can recruit from anywhere. tongue.gif

lol First, wouldn't stay in St. Cloud. *shudder* Target weight was 197, at 6'0". Weights vary by height, and if you're well muscled they generally won't have a problem with it. But I wasn't. Had some good definition, could pump out 6 pull ups (would probably have taken me if I could do 15+), and PT generally wasn't a problem, but my mile and a half times weren't as good as they wanted either... so bye bye. I wish I'd enlisted right after high school, things would have been better and I'd be through most of college work by now and probably applying to career field of choice. lol No grudges though, just some regrets. hehe. But the National Guard will be putting in a base at STC airport within two years...so maybe might take that route.

edit: as for navy... brother's in it, parents were in it, and I know I could get the job I wanted easily. lol Air Traffic Controller. My asvab score alone would've gotten me into the school of my choice.

DAMN. i lost like almost 20 pounds in my first 4 months in the army. and i can easily smash out 10 pullups in like 15 secs...

overall, i've lost about 25-30 pounds, and have one of the highest pt scores in our company.
