can the orange avatar be obtained on another pet species other than the Grundo ?

Nope.
Also the only days that effect pets have been Gnorbu Shearing Day, (All Gnorbus will appear to have been sheared.) Adam's birthday (everyone's pet gets turned into an Asparagus Chia for the remainder of the day) and Mutant day, where everyone's pet changes to Mutant for the day.
