3.95 GEN and 3.95 GEN-2 just came out, so you should probably try that

Can you install that firmware from the fat PSP v3.1? Or is there a way to revert it to earlier versions? 
I just tried and it says it could not run the "game".

I just tried and it says it could not run the "game". You need either whats called a "Pandora Battery" to downgrade your PSP to v1.5, or you can use a hack for the original version of the game "Lumines" to downgrade to v1.5, then upgrade back up to a hacked 3.95 firmware
