Well, admitidly he is right that, that is not what we are fighting for anymore. sad.gif He isn't quite smart enough to realize that it's the government that's put us over there, not the solders. Our soldiers are doing EVERYTHING that is in that video.

I understand perfectly that our government is responsible for our deployed soldiers; however, I don't condone all of our troop's actions (regardless of it being in the job description or not), and I don't find them heroic. Furthermore, I don't owe them an ounce of respect. America went into Iraq to compensate for it's failure to protect the nation from a terrorist attack. Now we are overcompensating, and it's getting out of hand - it was never about protecting American freedom, because we all know that that was never at stake in this situation.

Finally, I think what people don't understand here is that the Iraq war isn't a Hollywood feature film. Many of these soldiers are not prepared to give their life for their country. Many of them treat being in Iraq as a job. I don't take time out of my day to honor investment bankers, lawyers, or plumbers, so why exactly should I take time out to honor a soldier?

How about you go to work one day in a skyscraper that gets hit by two hijacked planes...then we'll see if think it's still bullshit.

I actually blame America for the 9/11 attacks seeing as it would have been easily preventable. Were you aware that the men responsible for taking over the planes did nothing but waltz through security with a few concealed firearms? Anyway, if you're really succumbing to FOX News' propaganda bullshit about this being a noble war on terror, you're as dumb as 90% of America.

I said it above, I'll say it again - America went to Iraq to compensate for it's failure to protect the American people. Eliminating terrorism is a fool's game - it can't be done, and even our government isn't too dumb to see that.

And their job is harder then most others. Which is exactly what this video portrays.

You keep criticizing the soldiers for what the government has done.

They are fighting for freedom, it may not be your freedom or my freedom, but a nation is free today because of the actions of our government and the American soldiers.

I wasn't bragging about my Dad's job - I was saying that to prove a point that, however "noble" you may think it is, a job is just a job.

Yeah, to an extent, but it also pays better than most entry level jobs.

While I detest the American government, it's the soldiers pulling the trigger.

No, not to an extent. It is a hard job. Plain and simple. Pay has nothing to do with it being hard, which again is what this video portrayed.

The soldiers are doing the job they are told to do, rather they think it's right or not has nothing to do with the issue. So you should be standing up to the government and not trying to trash the soldiers.

Which nations would that be? Iraq and Afghanistan are both on a better track to a free country then they where before the US Government got involved.

And there are lots of hard jobs, but why is this one any more honorable? Finally, to put it simply, if I had to choose a bumper sticker it would read, "Bring the troops home safely." I don't want them dead, obviously, but I don't condone them pulling the trigger.

Did anyone even do any research into this video and others like it? From what I've seen of comments around the web, it was released by the army, which leads me to believe it's just a recruitment scheme designed to make the average American feel like shit because they aren't enlisted.

Anyway, I'm going to bed. I have to work in the morning, but unfortunately I didn't get a video. sad.gif

Who said it's more honorable then any other job? Maybe you should take some time to make videos on other honorable professions? Of course I don't like the fact that they has to be violence, but when politicians fail to do their job, they call in the soldiers to do their job. Fortuanlly are soldiers are a lot better at their chosen field then the politicans are.

Why does it matter who put it out? Can you dispute any of the claims in the video, save maybe they're not standing up for you're individual rights and instead standing up for the freedom of a different nation? If anything it should encourage the not so 'average American' like yourself to stand up and do something about the politics in this government and get things done differently.

They aren't there just because they are told to be there, they are there because they have to. Sure they signed up, but who was expecting a war, and even inactive duty had to go active. My sister is in the National Gaurd, and she might have to go even though she signed up as national gaurd (NATIONAL gaurd)..., she signed up for the chance of being able to pay for school.

My brother, who used the Guard to pay his way through college, spent a year in Iraq.

God, what a waste of 20 seconds (that's how long I could sit through that crap).
It's phenomenal how much respect I'm supposed to owe a high school drop out who signed up for the army because it was all he could do.
My dad used to spend 18 hours a day in the emergency room saving lives - why doesn't he get a fucking video? Much more honorable than a soldier imo, seeing as he's saving lives, not ending them.

Don't post this shit.

Dude, you think I'm an asshole? These people put their lives on the line, even though it may be a war they don't believe in, or one they do not support. Hell, I bet a lot of people over in Iraq or who went to Iraq used the military to pay their way through college. It was basically free tuition, if you could cut it and would help if some place got flooded. 1we8.gif Your dad chose to be a doctor, chose to work in a hospital, and through his line of work ends up with 18 hour work days in the ER. Also, following proper procedure, he shouldn't be mortally wounded during the course of his job. Soldiers, on the other hand, do not have that fortune, and hell, they didn't even get to choose to work in Iraq.
