Ok, so I'm in the latest group home, and speedtest.net/modem is reporting 768kb/s download. Problem is, file downloads are CAPPED AT 80kb/s

Another issue, all games are around 400 ping. What the hell? I know it should be faster. DSL IS FASTER.

Any help? I'm running on roadrunner cable apparently. I've already tested the router, same speed whether directly connected to modem or not. sad.gif

I'm wired to the router. I even directly connected the wire to the modem. Still 80kb/s.

Any processes running in the background? Firewalls/Internet security stuff open?

My computer isn't the only one that's slowed to a crippling 80kb/s.

If they are downloading something, their speeds go to 40kb/s and so do mine.

Ask the management. They could probably tell you better tongue.gif.

    ...I am the manager.
I have access to the router and modem. If you mean the owners of the plan, they could care less. tongue.gif

This makes me think it's an ISP problem.

I also believe this is a firewall issue. Many advanced configurations allow you to set custom limits for downlad/upload speed. What firewall and model Router are you using?

dial into your router by entering this into your web address bar: 192.168.1.1

    See the "access restrictions"
tab on the router configuration pages.
Check to make sure there are no restrictions.
    The customized firmware and
other apps & knowledge from linksysinfo will be probably lead to a more
    elegant solution.

    Or try this...... http://lifehacker.co...uter-178132.php

For the hell of it, try using this. I also have a webstar modem / WRT54GL router

ONLY USE IF YOU ARE ON WINDOWS XP:

    http://www.speedguid...CPOptimizer.exe

    1. download it
    2. Slide the slider to whatever your ACTUAL connection speed is, which is in this case, 768kbps
    3. Make sure your selected network adapter is correct
    4. click the "Optimal settings" button on the bottom right
    5. Click apply

Also another thing it could be,

768kbps = 96KBps, is it a possible conversion error on your part? If your download speed is 768kbps, then 96KBps is the fastest you can possibly download at.....
