Srry for the dramatic startoff... but.
for the last 5 days I've been workin on a new, more reliable and faster method of solving the mystery picture contest on neopets... today I reached a 'final' version. So far today, my program has successfully determined the correct picture for 10 historical contests without so much as a hiccup. It's failed 1 so far, but there's a host of reasons why it could have failed.
as a little bit of proof, http://images.neopet...caption_414.gif is the answer to the latest mystery pic (currently over, round 726). it's in the top lefthand corner, on the 2nd knuckle of the plushie grundo's antenna/ear.. or at 5x55 in that image. the answer still has not been released yet.
the ENTIRE process takes around 2 hours. the comparison only process takes around 3 minutes, but I can have an answer as fast as 8 seconds. The best part is I'll probably only have to use the comparison program each week. Up untill this program, the only other way I could find to solve the mystery pic was a well circulated, but very difficult to use scar script. the scar script could also take days to get an answer...
So, why am I tellin all you? Well, I'm selling the answer. To 20 people each contest.
I've not established a value for the answer as of yet, and in all fairness, it'll be less than the value of the prizes won. answers are first come first serve, and EMAIL ONLY. I'll be creating another program that will wait till the new pic comes out and then runs it automatically for me so all I'll have to do is send it out.
I WILL NOT BE GIVING OUT THIS PROGRAM, OR SUPPLIEING IT"S SOURCE IN WHOLE OR IN PART TO ANYONE.. I may sell the entire suite for a nominal fee, tho I'll start by saying that having 40000 images in a single directory on your computer can be...... bothersome.... at times to say the least... all the image files I have currently add up to 400 mb in size, and take 814 mb of disk space, and takes about 20 minutes to download using my multithreaded download agent. the spidering tool to gather the images' url's can take anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours depending on the filters used. As stated before, the comparison script takes no more than 10 minutes to completely compare all images properly. if you want more info, or a description of what the programs do in an algorithmic form... I'll be glad to give it out.
