I use to download tons and tons when it was legal in Canada, since then I haven't really had to, my friend gave me his $50 iTunes credit because he didn't know how to use it so I've been using that

I do a combination of both, if i use my laptop i use limewire, but if i'm using a different computer in my house, i'll buy it off Itunes.

everything NiN releases is available for download from his site before it goes on the shelfs. would you consider that pirating if it's from the source?

besides, as a musician myself, i feel like i'm giving a little back whenever i make music and give samples away for free

My dad is a pirate lord and I got some of his genes, what can I say. I'm not nearly as bad as him though, I purchase like 98% of my Movies and absolutely all of my games. I would purchase music if you got some damned freedom with it, if you've paid for a song it should be your song, you should be allowed to change it's format or whatever, I downloaded two albums a few years ago and couldn't even play them on my MP3 player because the format was pissing locked on them. It's so ridiculous x-x you get more freedom with a CD but I can't be arsed waiting to go into town or whatever to get my albums! iTunes sucks too, I think of my purchased music on there (which is a decent amount, nothing compared to how much music I have though) I only have like 2 'computers' left for the songs, even though it's because of reformatting that that's happened, I'm not actually having it on different computers it's retarded. Who on earth is going to pay for music you can do less with?

Saying that though, this year I bought two albums, which is huge for me .

I download, and if I like the band even a little, I buy the CD. I don't feel very guilty about it, because I own probably 100 CDs from bands that I first listened to by downloading.

I pirate everything. It is a rationalization, but I feel that there are so many other people that are worse off. Closer to truth, I've become desensitized to any thought of pirating being morally wrong.
