Aight so I'm originally from Georgia, aand i decided to spend my holiday here. Guess what? A war just broke out. Seriously wtf man. I already got into a car crash here and i fractured my spine, im in a back brace. And now this. This is one messed up summer i'm having. And btw, the russians are assholes for doing this. No offence to any russians on the boards.

Didn't Georgia move into South Ossetia first? Sucks that you're in a rough shape as a result, but it was pretty obvious the Russians would be getting involved.

.....Russia bombed civilian land and houses with no military protection 200km away from the conflict zone. thats barbaric. There's hardly any fighting going on in south osetia. Thats just an excuse for Russia to try and invade Georgia, they've been bombing all sorts of civilian land... including our most important Port, where there is absolutely no military and has nothing to do with the conflict.

People are saying it was a perfect tactic due to the running of the olympic games. dont know the full 'true' story but I hope everything turns out okay.

There will never be a full story. A lot of accusations flying from both sides, with everyone playing the victim.

Someone let Bush know quick that Russia is eyeing Georgia the country and not the state. tongue.gif

On a serious note this is gonna be complicated with their allies and shit. Georgia is supposed to have 3rd largest number of troops in Iraq and gained some support and training from the us, ukraine is probably gonna get involved and isn't russia supposed to be gaining us and EU support/truce/peaceful cooperation(not for the war).

For the war, we're gaining alot of support and the US is being kinda gay atm. All they've done is call for a ceasefire, but thats not gonna do much at this point. Yeh we're withdrawing troops from iraq right now and sending them over to ossetia 1we8.gif

Yes, it's the Russians that started it all.

Georgia is no saint, neither is Russia of course.

Georgia attacked a mainly Russian region and also killed Russian peacekeepers. What would you have Russia do? Stand by idly?
Maybe you should get your facts straight before speaking. I'm not surprised of your opinion though, I'm sure there's propaganda on both sides. Russia probably has oil interests in the area as well.

Even though I don't know the full backstory to all this it was pretty stupid for Georgia to fuck with a powerhouse such as Russia. It seems like Russia right now is out to make an example. I hope you and your family turn out okay.

That's because Georgia is a western Ally and wants to join NATO.

Its pretty obvious that the main reason Georgia attacked is that they were counting on U.S. and the U.N. support. But who wants to risk another cold war.
    Stupid stupid stupid.

Sadly its basic military conduct that Russia is striking back. It has to show that their not weak and won't let shit slip by to protect its troops and citizens incase any other nations or whatever think of attacking them.

    Its been foreshadowed. blink.gif

Russia's just showing off it's military might and to be honest this whole thing will blow over soon. Will teach Georgia not to fuck with them again.

Very stupid on both sides, Georgia should have considered the risks before invading Russia. Blaming the U.S. on this issue is unfair; it's not their country, why should it have to back up either country? Georgia is incredibly stupid for invading and then being surprised of the consequences. On the other hand, Russia seems to have been a bit barbaric when it comes to what they've done. I'm hoping that the U.S. allies with Russia if anyone, I don't want another cold war (or something worse), and perhaps Russia will take note of Bush's advice for peace.

EDIT: Russia is done. The conflict is allegedly over.

Another cold war wouldn't come of this. That would require Russia being a superpower.

    Hopefully it's actually over though.
