Al Gore, who is a former VP, and an environmentalist trying to spread the word about global warming, is being sued by over 30,000 scientists.

They are suing him because he won't have a debate with them about global warming.
I personally think global warming is the truth, and Al Gore has showed more then enough evidence to prove it in his slide show, An Inconvenient Truth.

Talk about what you think of global warming, and if you agree with the scientists suing him.

I think it's very true and the evidence is outstanding enough that scientists should stop debating about it and do something useful about it dry.gif I think Al made the right decision. And since when are you allowed to sue someone for refusing a debate? blink.gif

Global "warming" is an unrealistic term. IMO the proper term is global climate change, because atypical weather patters are changing, along with warming and cooling.

Yea I agree, seeing as the "global climate change" will most likely end up causing an ice age. tongue.gif

Global Warming is a problem, but anywere near what al gore said? negative.

My ex-wifes dad was a pilot. He worked for netjets. Al Gore flew on a plane from new your to chicago on a jet that burned more fuel then most americans do in 10 years...not to mention jet fuel is much worse for the enviroment....

Funny thing? he was flying to chicago for some kind of global warming rally thing.

It's still as bad as he says, and he does tons for the environment, probably can't afford to build a energy saving jet though o.O Unrealistic

    ohmy.gif I personally believe mine

Even if your video happened to be right, which I personally don't think it is, he has still contributed a ton to slowing global warming through his slideshows, even if he doesn't do what he is saying, which clearly he is as Green House gave him the second highest award for the greenest house.

I honestly do not believe that global warming is mainly caused by humans. In the 1970s there was a huge amount of people who believed that the world was actually going into the ice age. There were all sorts of magazine covers on the subject. Even TIME magazine had one.
    http://www.time.com/...,944914,00.html
Read the article. You'll notice that they're saying almost the exact same things that they are saying about global warming now. And here's the kicker. On the second page of that article they also blamed man!
    QUOTE
Man, too, may be somewhat responsible for the cooling trend. The University of Wisconsin's Reid A. Bryson and other climatologists suggest that dust and other particles released into the atmosphere as a result of farming and fuel burning may be blocking more and more sunlight from reaching and heating the surface of the earth.

Now to say that just because back then is a lie global warming must be a lie too would be stupid, but it is certainly something to consider. The global cooling theory of the mid 70s was just as hyped up as the global warming theory is now. And guess what? Even though they had DECADES of data which was supposedly showing that the climate was cooling the ice age never came. Our planet is also not heating up nearly as quickly as they had predicted two decades ago before the theory really caught on.

My point more is that the earth warms up. The earth cools down. Sometimes it gets real hot and sometimes it gets real cold. It's just how it is. Geologists can tell you that this has been happening since the dawn of the earth. Maybe we're causing it maybe we're not. I highly doubt we're the main cause. Maybe we're not helping but the amount of CO2 we're putting in the atmosphere is a drop in the bucket from the amount that gets poured in from natural sources. So if this theory remains true we are just not helping but at least in my opinion we are absolutely positively not the cause. If anything cows are doing us in more than anything else wink.gif Eat emu and kangaroo burgers perhaps.

I, however, completely support the going green movement smile.gif Why? Because I want cleaner air. If you live anywhere in Detroit... even places like Winsor, Canada living there is like smoking two packs a day. It's absolutely disgusting the amount of chemicals we're pouring into the air sometimes. I'd also love to see us stop being such a wasteful society. So I don't give a damn if we're getting hotter or not. I like the way we're changing tongue.gif

I don't really know much about the 1970 thing, I was -22 years old sad.gif But I still think we are contributing to global warming.

We know that is wrong now don't we? We now know that there is an ozone layer and how that works, which is much too long for me to type it all out. Basically the pollutants damage the ozone layer. I know were probably not the main cause of global warming, but I think all the big industries and all the vehicles and everything are up there.

Yea going green is sweet, lower energy bills, and eventually we will run out of oil most likely so it would be nice going green before the gas prices get too high. tongue.gif
