Anyways, the xbox has been fucked for a few years, made clicking sounds when turned on and some games crashed afte minimal play time or on halo maps didn't load properly. Anyways a few weeks ago it stopped loading the game at all, gave me error code 07 with the ring light flashing red, made a really nasty clicking noise. I took it apart checked all the connections they were fine. Anyway i just wired it all up again a few mins ago to try and play a DVD and it turned on fine! I've erased everything on the HDD and hoping it stays working now. Can anyone offer an explanation as to why this might have happened?

I lol'd
something similar to this happened to a friend. We still use his xbox for marvel vs capcom 2. It made a goofy sound once while we were playing and shut off.
he got mad and kicked it, said it's been fucking up lately. few days later i went over there and he had it working again. said he opened it and looked around but didn' really mess with much.
you didn't happen to kick it did you?

eh i beat the crap out of it regularly when it crashes during live games lol so that probably doesn't help but the clicking + not loading discs properly shit starting happening like a year after i got it. It started clicking again today and rejected my game disc so i blew the dust off and it worked dunno how long it will last though...
An update on this... i went to bed, got up and tried to use it today and it's broken again

I vote you just get another. They're pretty cheap these days, perhaps 50 USD.

At least the new one would probably have a warranty of some sort. XD
When you open it up, the warranty gets broken.

Yea but i got my xbox in 2002 and had 3yr warantee and i only opened it a few weeks ago so they wouldn't have taken it back anyways I doubt the new one will have warantee either the xbox is too old nowa days

The warranty is from date of purchase.
So if you manage to find a NEW one....
OR if you have a gamestop or other game store (I don't know what you've got on that island of yours) they usually sell product replacement plans....
and/or have a 30 day guarantee flat.

Ah well, too bad i voided it I'm gonna replace some of the cables and see if that does the trick. At first i thought the HDD was fried but if it works now and then i'm thinking it's more likely to be a loose connection somewhere...
