Right, so I've always had a problem getting to sleep really. I'm up for hours after getting in bed and it's a real bitch. I've tried loads of things to fix it...I've given myself only 3-4 hours sleep the night before, or stayed up all night to sleep early the next night, loads. Nothing works. I don't think it has anything to do with my body not being tired though. Sometimes I can be absolutly knackered, yawning every 2 seconds and dying to go to bed. If I just drop onto my bed to see if I can sleep but there's something I have to do, like turn off my computer, I could fall asleep instantly there and then. However if I get into bed knowing I'm there to sleep and I have no reason to get up, I can't sleep for shit. No matter how tired I was before I got in I just can't sleep. It has to be psychological.

Anyone have a similar problem and have any ideas I could try out? It really sucks.

I find that my head starts racing when I go to bed, probably because it's the best time besides showering to get some good thinking time. tongue.gif

I'm guessing it's been going on for a while.

I hate when I have nights like that. It happens especially on nights with me when your're trying to sleep early cuz you got something big the next day. These days now im so drained when I get home falling asleep is no prob.

I'd recommend a hard workout before you go to sleep. If you're good and worn out, you probably won't be thinking much.

And if you start thinking "Why can't I get to sleep?" You might as well just get up, you're not going to get to sleep. Oh, and another bit of advice, if you have a clearly visible alarm clock, turn it around so you can't see the time. That way you're not all like "I've been laying here for x amount of ti me, why can't I fall asleep?"

Well, now that my question has been answered, I'll try to help you out. When my friend had trouble getting to sleep she made a playlist of some calming, soft music and listened to that playlist every night for a month while trying to go to sleep. Eventually her brain began to associate this auditory information with sleep, and so now listening to this playlist before she goes to bed causes her to fall asleep.

I've tried that before. The only problem is I start to get sleepy after a while, but I have to turn the music off at some point and when I do, I'm back to square one sad.gif I've never really thought about doing it to associate the music with sleep though.

You shouldn't have to turn it off really. I've done it before, either have your playlist so it'll just play all the songs, then stop playing anything, which ought to mean your MP3 will turn off on it's own after a bit because nothing is going on (if it's any good), or you could use a sleep timer. I'm not so much a fan of sleep timers though because I find myself thinking 'Oh no, the 20 minutes I put on the timer must be up soon, what if it cuts out half way through a song?' and it just doesn't really let me drift off to sleep.

i know it was talked about before in an older thread, but dude... iDOSER ftw!!!

i remember people only did the trial stuff, and got different affects, but i recently found a few (3) huge torrents with the entire sets... and the recreational doses aside, there's actually a small handful of sleep-aid doses, one of which i've used quite a few times during the day and get some power naps in (an hour or two), i even used to once to just get some solid sleep once, and it did help! the track was like 30 min long, but i don't really remember it ending, so i know it helped (since i'm like most of you guys, it sometimes takes me like 30 min - an hour to fall asleep.. lots of tossing and turning sad.gif)

try it dude, helped for me... try "sleeping angel" first and see how that does, if its not strong enough try the "insomniac" (haven't used that one yet)

I take 2 every single night usually.

Even the recommended dose of Tylenol if taken over a long period of time especially with regular drinking has been shown to harm the liver. If I were you, I'd stop it and not recommend it to anyone else unless you want a liver transplant. Honestly you don't want to take tylenol regularly for more than two weeks. Switch to advil and a sleeping pill. Advil hurts your stomach if you don't take it properly with enough water or food, but frankly methinks you need your liver more. It's worth a little heartburn and the danger of addiction to sleeping pills if you really need them smile.gif

Anyways Sida... I think the problem could very well be physical. Some people have a problem with their melanin and they cannot sleep well in the night. Try taking some Melanin and it'll help you wake up with the sun and help you go to sleep better at night. It's a bit of a holistic approach, but hey, why not try it. It's not overly expensive and you should be able to find it in the herbal section of your pharmacy.

Take 5mg of supplemental melatonin per night. Should help a lot.
