Sup
Anyone else here a metalhead?
My boyfriend and I are crazy somewhat-elitist metalheads, lols (he's more of a jerk about it to people, I can keep my mouth shut xP)
Metal is my main music but it's not the only thing, of course. I really dislike nu-metal/hardcore/anythingcore/screamo emo crap though, no Avenged Sevenfold/Underoath/Mudvayne for me thx, I can't consider that stuff metal D: But it's cool if other people do, I won't bite your head off hahah.
I need a bigger list of bands I like, post/discuss bands here or something, OR IF YOU'VE BEEN TO WACKEN OPEN AIR I'D TOTALLY LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT THAT D: I can't die until I've gone to Wacken, ffffffffddasdf

my list o bands so far:
  • Amon Amarth
  • Ancient Rites
  • Apollion (they're local to Belfast, I doubt anyone knows of them x_x they're good though)
  • Arch Enemy
  • Bathory
  • Blind Guardian*
  • Celtic Frost
  • Children of Bodom (okay, only their first couple albums were good imo)
  • Cradle of Filth*
  • Cromlech
  • Dødheimsgard
  • Darkthrone
  • Demons and Wizards*
  • Dethklok
  • Dimmu Borgir
  • Dir en Grey* (lolwut weametals?)
  • Drudkh
  • Einherjer
  • Eluveitie
  • Ensiferum
  • Enslaved
  • Fintroll
  • Gehenna
  • Gorgoroth
  • Guns N' Roses
  • Gwar
  • Immortal
  • In Extremo
  • Iron Maiden
  • Judas Priest
  • KISS
  • Korpiklaani
  • Lacuna Coil*
  • Led Zepplin
  • Manowar
  • Megadeath
  • Metallica
  • NeverDead
  • Nightwish* (shut up I put the asterisk ;_; )
  • Ozzy Osborne
  • Pagan Winter
  • Pantera
  • Rammstein
  • Satyricon
  • Skyclad
  • Slayer
  • Týr
  • Thyrfing
  • Van Halen
  • Vintersorg
  • Windir
  • Wintersun
  • Wolfchant

I basically went through my iTunes and WMP and looked at the artist section. Dunno how many albums/songs I've of each artist here, and I probably missed some.

* = Metal-ness is debated imo

Lucky, I've only seen Metallica out of that list
Pff most of the good European metal bands don't go to this state when they tour North America ;_; Ensiferum, Amon Amarth, and Eluveitie just passed by some cities that are a few hours away from me last month, I woulda gone but no license yet
And Paganfest last year looked SO GOOD, omfg. Had all these bands I fuckin love so much, and it went right past me in Portland (Portland Oregon, it's like 6 hours from here) god I am so mad I missed that one D:
    One day, man. One day.

I've met Avenged Sevefold when I was 14, but I think they're huge faggots who give metal a bad name, so eh

You cant go wrong with some of these bands though. Killswitch Engage for example. If you can tolerate minimal screaming, you can enjoy one of the greatest most talented bands around.

I can tolerate screaming fine as long as it's not that talentless wailing
A lot of bands i love use screaming in a much different way that I can't really describe in words, idk
Like.. compare Ensiferum or Eluveitie's singing to Killswitch Engage's or Atreyu's. Completely different, I can't word out why or how.
Maybe part of it has to do with that when I listen to the latter, I hear more screaming and less lyrics, instruments and overall music. Even black metal bands like Immortal and Satyricon sound more musically harmonised than -core metal to me
Maybe I'm just a stubborn eurofag, lols

    edit:
If you recommend me a youtube link to a good killswitch engage song or some other band of yours that you're backing, I'll take a listen and try to figure out what the hell I am trying to clarify here @_@

I still listen to what my old man used to play when I was growing up. Lots of Zepplin, Guns and Roses, and crazy amounts of Van Halen. As an outsider who doesn't really 'get it' I find a lot of the new black metal bands almost comical. It seems like a competition of who can one-up the previous guy on looking like a bad dude.

I think the best "screamer" is As I lay Dying. Not only do they have absolutely amazing guitarists/drummer, but the singer doesn't have what I call a "fake" scream.

I would say exactly the opposite as you. Have you seen them live? If not, don't do it. It may ruin it for you. I liked them pretty good a couple years ago, saw them at Warped, and haven't listened to much since. The screamer is sooo plain and boring.
    Obviously my opinion though.

Good choice with In Flames though. IMO one of the most talented pure scream bands around.

AILD is not too nice live.

In Flames I'm seeing in concert with ATR and Gojira, it's gonna be sick, I'm excited.

    Trivium is win.

Job For A Cowboy is sex.

    Children of Bodom is ungodly.

I'm starting to like grindcore. Preschool Tea Party Massacre ftw.
