Okay I know you are all going to think this is stupid becasue I'm new but I'm hoping some of you will see the irony in it. Now I'm not the kinda person that stays in all day and plays on the computer, in fact if any of you met me you wouldent think i knew how to turn a computer on. I play neopets on and off, and if I remember right I think there was a time when these forums were not open to the public and you had to get an invite to get on them. (dont quote me on that but I think it was this site). To become a private member you need at least 500 posts and to be here for a month. Lets do some math. Say its a month with 31 days in it. 500 divided by 31 is about 16. So you would need a minium of 16 posts a day. Lets break that down even further. I leave for school at 6:30 in the morning and go strait from school to work and dont get home until around 5:00. If nothing is going on I have about 5 hours to make 16 posts. Now anyone who makes 16 posts in 5 hours is going to seem like a spammer, and I dont want to seem like a spammer but I would like to earn access the private. I was thinking that maybe the god's of the forum could lower the number of posts from 500 down to 250 posts. I know you senior members are going to say "Well I had to earn my keep." and I acknowladge that, but I try to have a life too, and I'm not saying you all dont have life's (well some of you might not but thats beside the point). I put a poll up and I hope you will all read this before making your final decision. Thanks

You need 500 posts to be an advanced member.
To be private you have to be a member for a minimum of three months I believe and have at least 3 posts per day (exceptions are sometimes granted), then you post an application in the private voting topic whenever private applications are open (bimonthly) and the private members vote.

As for advanced membership, if you stick around and really join in the community you'll see that 500 posts comes pretty quickly. You've only been a member for 3 days, so it's going to take a bit longer than that.

Well im glad to see that I am not alone. I just look at the number 500 and think to myself that I have never posted 500 posts on any forum that I have ever joined. lol

Take it from me, who lurks and barely posts; 500 comes pretty easy. Just hang out, and it wont take very long.

Here is an amazing idea, how about you post 8 posts a day for TWO months! or hell lets even go and do 4 posts for FOUR months. Damn that would be hard, right?

Just so you know, 16 posts in five hours reaaaaaaaaally won't get you considered being a spammer. I mean sure, it might be a little harder to achieve at the moment because everywhere is so dead, but that said there still seems to be a reasonable amount of topics made and you can manage it pretty easy. I've probably done 3 in 20 minutes? =S and that's in between doing other stuff .

Also, I don't mind if it gets dropped a bit, I guess it does feel like a rather huge goal to achieve to newbies and that might be putting them off the site entirely.

I feel like it's obviously doable (I'm so close now yay) but at the same time it does seem like a huge number to a newbie, especially when things are hugely active right now

We set it to 500 so that by the time you reach it, you stop caring about programs. If you do, we still have some stuff, but we end up getting you to stop caring when we give out Private.

I remember when I joined. Oooo the youngins then were wipper snappers! We had to wait 2 whole months before we were eligible for any status upgrades. Ah yes. The good ole' times. I remember it was so long ago because I had to use a punch card to apply.
