If you know her so well ,cook her something you know she dosent like and if she is ignorant about it at dinner you are better off not having her as a friend... but if she is nice about it you have a chance of saving your friendship!

You know, I would keep doing what your doing...keep taking the high road. She made an idiot out of herself, so she has to redeem her character and her friendship towards you. I wouldn't go out of your way, let her come and try to earn YOUR friendship again. I sincerely hope that she apologizes and she starts treating you like the friend you are towards her.

Sounds like you need to have another serious talk to her about it. I know you tried before, but that was a while ago and it sounds like it's got worse. She sounds like a seriously jealous and competative person and that's a pretty hard to overcome (I've had a friend similar in the past). As for dinner, there's not really a lot you can do 1we8.gif It's a lot easier for her to find a reason to not turn up than it is for you to turn her away and she's still coming round. Your best bet is to try and stay off the topic...especially at a dinner with both couples. As soon as you bring it up it's gonna cause a load of shit.

That's pretty much what I was considering doing. I've put in enough effort now, it's time for her to do something or I won't really mind if I don't have her in my life.
The funny thing was, she apologised for offending me not for what she said and what that meant. She didn't seem to actually consider what she'd said to have been wrong.

The thing is, like I said before she sounds stubborn and competative. If there's an obviously conflict between you, she'll stay up on her horse whether it was her fault or not. You need to remove that competative shit she's holding between you as couples.

She returns by saying she told him absolutely not, that it was childish, pathetic and a total waste of money.

Maybe she's childish, pathetic, and a total waster of money (as far as her husband's concerned)? tongue.gif

Seriously, if he likes collecting Warhammer, then good for him as that's his thing. It's not like John is wasting his entire life away on games or anything, he's in engineering! You go crazy in engineering if you don't have a hobby. tongue.gif

Well if she offered an apology and knew she did something wrong, she admits there was an misunderstanding on her part and wants the relationship to continue, so look at that as a positive.

I've got friends like yours, it's just a matter of chalk and cheese. It's someone inate humanity coming out and you're going to have to put up with her putting her mouth in it as you can't change anything.

You could try talking to her again, although that obviously failed last time. This time you could threaten the relationship by forcing her to change or end her ways, but you're a smart girl, you know not to raise your voice, get forceful or agressive.

We can't really offer much support seeing as we don't know the in's and out's of the relationship, plus we don't have Suz's side of the story. All I can offer is my sympathy.

(Side note: You should post some pics of what warhammer John collects and paints, I used to do it for a while until I realised I was poor and couldn't afford them tongue.gif)

Um, are we in the 5th grade? These are pretty immature topics to get into fights over, and I have a feeling there are also two sides of the story. But how about trying to be direct with the situation at the moment at hand instead of trying to tippy toe around them like puddy tat school girl bitches.

I know that you like to you like to handle situations in a more sophisticated manner, but sometimes you have to fuck the subtleties and learn to be blunt in life.

First of all, if you haven't got anything constructive to say then shut the fuck up.

Secondly, I mentioned it's a bunch of small things snowballing into a large problem.

Thirdly, I stated from the start that I had considered I was partly to blame and had been putting in effort to fix the problems on my end.

Fuck. Thanks for making an incredibly fucking bastard of a day even worse.

I don't know how to offer a suggestion better than that? These bunch of small things are fights over dessert recipes and WarHammer :|.. I'm just curious as to how you can be best friends with someone for over a decade and still be sensitive to shit like that enough to ruin your day and your friendship. A bit silly, no?

/facepalm. It's not like that. It's about the buildup of it all. Those were just two recent examples. It's more about her friend feelings so insecure that she needs to lash out at Kitsune. This has been going on for two years now. After that long of trying to save a relationship of any kind even the smallest things get really irritating. Anyone who has known someone who has gone through a divorce or a breakup after a long term relationship knows this as well.

Keep in mind this is also a woman posting. We care more about emotions than males usually do so those types of things actually do bother us a lot.

I don't really know your friend or you that well so I'm not really sure what kind of advice to offer. But, I had a friend with a similar situation. I tried taking the high road, changing the subject or explaining what I meant, etc. But it ended up with me getting sick of it, blowing up, and yelling at him; which of course did not end well. You must be really patient if it's been like 2 years. Anyway, I don't know exactly what you've tried, but being a bit more aggressive/direct doesn't hurt. I'm not saying to yell, but a good friend should be able to handle some truth, especially if it's only to help the friendship.
