I personally feel he was more then deserving of this award. He took a character that already had a strong image of what it should be and transformed it into something completely different and in my opinion a lot better.

I agree that he was a great actor in the film and did completely change our perspective of "The Joker". He turned him into a pyschoitic sociopath with a dark and gritty humour, which suited the film completly.

Although I wouldn't like to see EVERY Batman film like that.

Shittiest oscars ever. The movies this year were so lame. I'm appalled that slumdog won best picture.. mediocre at best.

Robert Downey's nomination didn't phase me in comparison.

I don't mean to sound horribly insensitive, but I honestly think the reason why they gave it to him was because he died. Nicholson was a much better joker at least I thought :\ Not to say that Ledger wouldn't deserve it anyways, but I think if he wasn't dead his chances would be much lower.

I don't think that's fair to say unless you've seen the movies of the other 4 nominations for the category and had strong opinions for them. I've seen MILK and Doubt.. Phillip Seymour Hoffman's performances are always riveting, but I didn't think it was anything special. On the contrary, Ledger's performance was the only thing that made the dark knight worth watching.

The good thing about the oscars is that all the votes are completely anonymous, which would relieve any pressure from the media.

You're the first person to convince me. You're absolutely right. I'm pretty sure that the other nominations weren't too much competition. Naturally, I haven't seen the others, but I haven't heard the best of things about them.

The topic was about Robert Downey Jr being nominated for Tropic Thunder, which I did see. The discussion of Heath Ledger getting an Oscar was a bit off topic, alright fucker?

I said he was a good actor, just possibly he might of not of gotten the oscar if he was alive. Stop being a little defending bitch.
