Well, one of my buddies got sentenced to a term in jail and gave me his old phone. It's a Samsung Instinct. I was going to give it to my girlfriend, as she already has a Sprint Plan, but I'm just wondering if I'll need to change the type of plan she has or whatever. I'm just a bit confused as to what exactly I need in order to get this phone to work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks smile.gif

You have the phone and plan already, I think all they would need to do is an esn swap and maybe renew the contract to support data features of the instinct.

Sprint phones use the ESN number that is usually located under the battery compartment. If the phone you wish to activate has a "clear" ESN, (meaning that it is not currently attached to an account that has an outstanding balance, for example, or stolen) you can go online at www.sprint.com and access your account and perform the process to switch service over to your new phone... if you have a problem with the activation, there is the option for Live Chat with a tech/customer service associate as well as just calling Sprint's customer service line to do it over the phone... usually there is no charge for online activation but sometimes they charge for instore phone activation (sometimes like $35 bucks)
