I've played around with the operating system a bit and it seems pretty cool :p. I probably wont be using it as my main operating system but if they have fixed the problems of Vista, then that's great! :D

I've had the beta version on my desktop for a couple of months as an upgrade from XP. I've noticed it running quite a bit slower than XP (five seconds to open a folder...seriously?) so I may switch back if the full version causes the same problems. I am, however, going to get Vista the heck off my laptop and get Windows 7 on there ASAP. I'm tired of the blue screen of death.

    Windows 7 is Epic :)

I'm not looking forward to it, because I am already using it, and not even a Beta.

I heard that you can get it as a free update as long as your copy of Vista is new enough.

So yeah...I'm SO getting it :D

Yeah I'm pretty much getting it the second it comes out. Vista has been okay overall for me, but XP was more than okay. I expect Windows 7 to be more than okay as well. :p

I had to get a new hard drive for my lappy from HP about...um...2 months ago, however I purchased the computer back in November.

You think they put a new version of Vista on here? Any way to tell? XD

Thinking of backing up my data from Vista and going full-blown 7

But I have an ass load of data... guess I better get to backing it up...

And I hope that a hacked version works ok ><

Guess I can always throw my legal version of Vista (Read: crap) back on if Windows 7 starts acting shitty on me.

Look into a tool called rsnapshot. If you have another machine lying around, you could make a backup similar to how Time Machine works on Mac. I'm planning on setting up rsnapshot for my parents on their windows computers and have them backup regularly to my linux server.

I've been using W7 since the first day it hit the internet. Absolutely flawless OS in that, I can run all programs without any crazy compatibility problems like vista. I run x64 XP Pro and switched to x64 W7 and needless to say it runs smoother then any OS I've ever experienced.

I thought you where installing XP 64, where did the W7 come from?

And what compatibility issues have you had, because I've seen NONE.
