http://avatar.starried.net/

After running one of the most helpful and amazing avatar tracking web-sites on the Internet, Avatar Starried might be closing it's doors. This makes me really sad. I don't think anyone has even come close to making something as good as that database. When I read the front page it seriously depressed me. Share your feelings here. This come as a surprise to anyone?

    Surprise, yes
    Sad, yes

I'll miss that site, with it's customizable dailies and avatar tracking. But if owner wants to move on with life, owner's gotta move on and I support his decision.

It's sad and shocking indeed (should the owner decide to completely shut it down), but all good things come to an end. I definitely understand where the owner is coming from though. :p

If somebody makes a list of the key points of that website we could probably replicate/improve on the features. I've never used the site or collect avatars so I have no idea what it was about.

I see the trading post used pretty frequently. Perhaps you could do the trading post after this one though? Or maybe I could take the trading post from you while you concentrate on this?

In my opinion, the best way to "replace" them would be to run it as a stand-alone site on our servers.

So, people could access (for example) avtrack.net, and signup and login etc there without ever seeing this side of the site.

People often link to their avlog, and we wouldn't want even the vaguest possibility of them being frozen for linking to their "avtrack". It has to be seperate.

That's my baby! Second to neoalerts :'( I can talk you through this one though. No ajax and minimal javascript in the ab+bd challenger system. Can you take that one instead :'(

We're currently designing a seperate legit site anyways, so this would go on there.

I honestly doubt he won't come back though. Really it won't make a difference if he doesn't make a news post few days. His services just needs to stay up. And for that he just has to pay hosting.

I agree. He has other staff that can add new releases. It's just new coding that he has to do himself, and bug fixes etc.

I just realized, today, how lost I am w/o the site.

I have no way that I like to keep track of avatars and I was like "Shoot...what do I go for next?"

    Sad...I know T___T

Yeah :( I hope it doesn't close its doors and instead pass the admin controls onto one of their friends or something, I loved checking off avatars going yep, I have that one... and that one... and the dailies list... ahmazing. The fact that you could do usual dailies with an extra link on top for whatever games you like playing etc.

    Gonna miss it :(

I am sure there are a lot of PP that can help you out.
I got a german side for Dailies and one for the avatars.

I was jsut kidding, i know how to navigate around Neopets, i have been playing for 7 some years now. It's just that without the convenience of Avatar Starried i'm too lazy to do so.

Ack, haven't been checking Neo (or Neo-related sites) for awhile. Just found out about this. Argh, that stinks! Avatar Starried was (and hopefully, is...) such a user-friendly site =/
