It's generally given to people who write guides or have nice and helpful posts, anyone can give rep, but are limited to *I THINK* 5 rep a day.

Thanks for answering the question and helping everyone out on the boardsSee that + above the multi-quote button in a post? That gives the person one rep.

. Just a tiny correction: it's 3 rep a day
.
I'll also have to write that down, for some reason 5 always comes up when I think rep.

I doubt people would quit the site because they have negative rep, seeing as iargue would likely receive a good amount of negative rep here and there from several people, and the same can happen to others. If it was like that, you'd be out a Programmer and lose the Auto trainer.I wish we could neg rep too. THat way when someone says something stupid, I can go "Neg Train. CHOO CHOO!" And everyone neg reps him until he is so far in the negative he quits the site.
Ya. Like that.

There is no rep benefits that I know of, it's more for people to look at you and go "Hey, that guy has good rep, he must be nice and helpful!"Does reputation benefit in any way or just improves your reputation around the forums?

"I'm going to be away from the net for x days, can someone log into my account and do my dailies?" "Ew, not him, he has -3 rep." "Oh, I'll trust you, you have 93 bazillion rep"
I think a novel use for rep here would be an organization of very trustworthy people that get together and do a "money laundering" type of thing, similar to how tor handles proxies. If an item or NP goes through so many different people before it ends up where it's intended to get to, how will TNT know which accounts are related? Of course that could back fire and result in the whole group of people getting iced. At any rate, I think people should look into this idea.

Correction to your sentence: "I'm always intelligent and witty! Lol, although I do threaten to handcuff Hydro and Jcr all the time!"
*buzzer*
Wrong. JCR are initials, thus they should be all caps since they are the abbreviation of a proper name
I will accept jcr for those who don't know it's my initials unless it's the beginning of a sentence.
