Oh, of course there is always the potential to sell, but not everyone has the Patience of a God and don't want to wait forever as the price as an item slowly raises.

I'm not saying not to invest in items because they'll be more expensive than they are now, I'm saying that there are easier and more efficient ways to toss your cash around then hoarding a bunch of books that only a small group of people have any interest in. Heck, it would be smarter to hoard "Gourmet Cooking For Your Pet" because those things will skyrocket in price come next August because those have actually have a use for a much larger group of people, as there are more Avatar Collectors as there are Book Readers.

(Oh yeah, a little off-topic, but why bother taking Beanso's Avatar, is it really THAT hard to grab some random image and use it for yourself? It's really annoying seeing a post and confusing you for Beanso because you decided to use his avatar.)

I remember the Gourmet book was sellling for 1.5mil this past August. I imagine it will sell for less than that (probably under 800k) because there will be a LOT more people stocking up on there and therefore supply will be higher. Plus there will be a whole month rather than the few days like in last August.
That said though, I do expect the book to go unbuyable as August approaches next year, so it's a good idea to stock up on a few.

Chances are the only reason the price change has happened is because people realized what could happen and everyone started stocking up. All my previous from before was spot. i advised everyone not to wait. At this point its a bigger risk to stock up simply because the current price could be caused by a few people insanely stocking up. In fact its the only explanation, theres no way all those books could of disappeared into thin air literally within 24 hours. At this point its a bigger risk to invest.

This will definitely be a HTS.

Which gets me thinking as to why people would stock up on any more than 10 of these things, it would just take too much work and patience to get rid of them all, and even more for the exact price or higher than you want.

Yeah, you could probably sell a few off, but after a while you'll just have a pile of books doing nothing but collecting dust between each page.

This is all centered around earning potential... You didnt invest 100k that are probably still laying around in your account collecting dust but you could of spent that 100k for future earning potential. I dont know why you consistently try to show that this investment has a flaw. Ill make it simple for you would you rather save 100k or invest it and over time that 100k becomes 1,000,000 but you just have to leave in your shop and do NOTHING? The answer is quiet simple invest 100k- wait for inflation- put in shop- wait- earn 1,000,000- DONE. This is simply assuming it stays buyable. But god forbid it goes unbuyable and you have to do some work and earn 10x the profit. <_<

Actually, none of my cash is sitting collecting dust, it's all going towards training my pet.

Also, I could just put the money in my hand, start up Abrosia, and let it buy stuff while I do NOTHING! :D Guaranteed more success than investing!

With the risk of getting frozen. Most ABers don't become super wealthy i have yet to hear someone get to the 500mill+ mark ABing. Plus no ones going to complain about earning an easy couple of million by investing. But do what you like its your game to play.

So you think your book scheme will reach 500+ million? This stuff takes time, and if you do things right and take precaution, there is little risk to get frozen even if you continuously AB.

Its not a scheme its basic economics. So far all is happening according to my predictions so i know what im doing ;). And when i said 500mill i meant it being earned in a legit manner. But yes that could of been done in investments as well. Munsterpoo has stocked up on grapes at 300mill a piece by next year they will double in price. The only way to become super rich is to spend money. I understand but investing > ab in terms of safety no doubt. Trust me i just started the game back up i could only invest 250k in to the books if i had the money i would of spent 5-10million cuz i was 100% positive. 5,000,000/ 5,000 = 1,000 books, 1,000 x 30,000 = 30,000,000. Keep in mind i mention buying 1,000+ while they were at 5k(scroll up the earlier date). I would of spent the time slowly selling and once i had my 30,000,000 i would put every single NP into another market i have been watching to once again make insane profits. I dont mind doing the work of selling because its part of playing the game. Turning on the ABer isnt exactly the most fun thing in the world....

You're making it seem that you will be able to sell all of those books, which I doubt you'll easily be able to pull off. Anyone who wants the books without the intent to try and sell them probably already got one from the box or bought them while they are cheap.

I Would be able to do it just fine. Put about 5-7 in the shop at a time and just wait. I noticed a few people selling 13 @ 22k a few hours later their gone. Also your assumption of demand for a book is off base. Look at the post from above everyone decided to wait till the last day to stock up even though i advised against it. The demand is still pretty high at this point because many did not stock up on time and now they have to deal with a difficult choice, will the book go higher? is it right to invest more at 30k a pop now? Will it go UB? All this is quiet the decision maker for people.

The argument of it being HTS is really "out there". Think of it this way, if you RS in book would you go for the UB book costs 5,000np? According to the HTS logic you would not because its HTS and spending the original 5k is not worth it. The way i see this investment at this point is like RSing a medicinal soap you pay 5k and sell for 15k but in our case 30k with higher earning potential.

But look if you dont like to invest then don't. different strokes for different folks.

Prices will fall in the coming weeks. E.g., look up Tales of the Esophagor. I see some for 16k when they reached peaks of 35k.

I believe the TNT editorials even mentioned that the books will no longer be obtainable after this halloween.

    Found it:

"I was just wondering: in Edna's Spooky Surprise, why is the prize for completing the 3 quests (Edna's Tower, Esophagor, and Brain Tree) worth so little? The prize my friend got was worth about 7,000 NP. The quests for the Esophagor alone are usually typically unbuyable. Even if the first one does come out cheap, the odds that the second one will as well are VERY slim. Is there any way that the prize can at least be made worth the effort? The quests are not cheap for something so worthless. ~black_sky17

The prize for completing the quest is a unique item only available through this event. The Neopian economy has decided how much the item was worth, so while we are very sympathetic to how expensive those Esophagor quests can be (trust us, plenty of us here did it too and spent a small fortune), we can't control the value of the unique reward. If you're not pleased with the value of the item, remember that it is Rarity 101, and therefore will likely only increase in value over the years. :) Also, as we stated earlier, we're looking at tweaking the quests a bit to offer a better balance of cost and reward."

EDIT: From my experience, the item's value always shoots up during the inflation period then plummets in the next few weeks. I feel old for saying this but does anyone remember the Garin/Scarblade Negg inflation? How about the great snicklebeast inflation?

Generally if you didn't buy in at the cheap stages then you shouldn't buy any at all.

Disclaimer: I own about 5m worth in Tales of the Esophagor and Snicklebeast with buy ins at 10k and 3k respectively.
