They should come up with universal sets of game controls for shooter games. Like how Halo 3 has different setups(ie. bumper jumper, southpaw etc). Then every game should have the same options for main actions like shooting, throwing grenades, jumping etc. I play FPS's often and it's hell trying to switch back and fort between controls and sometimes I end up looking like an idiot.

Discuss

Ps: does anyone here play halo actively?

Edit: sorry for the double post, by browser bugged out

I prefer if it's different. If it's the same, then there's no fun in it. Shooting games are about the same generally.

And I don't play halo Posted Image

Changing the controls doesn't change the game.

I'm weird with "controls" for games.

I don't care what they are...as long as they are easily learned

I don't mind different controller setups :/ they're usually fairly similar anyways, and a lot of the time you can pick up a controller and the controls kinda come to you after a minute or so... but a universally used one included in every fps game would be kinda cool. Too bad it's kinda impossible considering the variety of different in-game items/usable buttons.. besides, it's half convenient playing a game for which the controls are designed specifically for that game.

Agreed. I'm also fine with any control setup as long as they don't require me to position my hand into very awkward angles. Angles that cause my fingers to ache after a short period of time.

same but I always feel weird doing mmo's without the "wasd" keys and having to use the mouse or the arrow keys to move...

I remembered after playing WOW for a year, when I tried to switched back to DoTA, I'm not used to the controls. I was telling my friend how the keyboard is bugged before I realised DoTA uses the mouse.

Lol...my friend did the exact same thing. He lost a few games before he made the switch.

There deffinately is a universal control. For instance. The Right Trigger is SHOOT. the Left Joy Stick is WALK, and the right joystick is AIM. After that, its slightly fun to figure it out.

I love it when I switch games, and want to crouch, press b, and just threw a grenade at my teammates head. :).

If you really have such a problem with the learning curve, perhaps games are not for you? I'll mess up once or twice, and then be good from then on.

Yeh but those are the only things that are universal. I don't have a huge problem with the learning curve but it would be nice if there was a universal set. Plus pretty much the only game I play is halo so I'm pretty use to bumper-jumped controls.
