They announced the retirement of the plushes, not that they were easy to find in awhile so I wasn't surprised. They haven't had any more merchandise in the stores at all and the NC Cards are hard to find. Target, Walmart, doesn't carry them and Toys R Us are barely stocking them.

While Club Penguin, Bella Sara, Webkins etc are flooding the markets and TBH those sites suck. Heck I can buy MapleStory, IMVU, and other cash cards very easily.

Sooo what do you think? It just doesn't bode well for Neopets IMO..

I don't think they are in trouble at all to be honest.... It's not like running a few servers, and paying a few staff members really puts them in the negatives... The advertisements we all accidentally click help pay for the game, not to mention the thousands of players who buy Neocash through Paypal and buy premium and shit lol

In all honesty, the cost to maintain their game is wayyy lower then what they are getting out of it lol -_-

    EDIT:
Nexon is MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH worse... oh man those guys are money grubbing little thieves.. holy shit <_< LOL

    Yep Nexon sucks..
Neopets has alot of free stuff compared to other 'virtual pet' sites. You can get full use of the site without paying and all the pay stuff is just fluff. But with Nexon now involved whats next?

Wanna bigger shop/gallery? Pay real money for it!
Want better chance of getting UBs? Pay real money for "special ability" to get UBs.
Want that cool PB? Pay Up Bud..

Yep with Nexon I can see that happening soon...

    Already out dude lol....

Want limited edition Pink Bean pet? ---> Cash shop gashapon for .0001% chance to get it!
Cash shop scrolls to get your 10% / 60% scrolls to have a 30% more success rate!
Pets can now pick up your loot so you don't have to jam your Z button during lag (which is always)
Pets can also use potions for you so you don't die
Pets cost money and expire every 90 days
Oh yea.. EVERYTHING expires in 90 days ... <_<

Oh and lets not forget AP resets.... to get 18k base HP on a night lord you have to pay around $4500... x]

Neopets............................. is a lot better... kinda xD

Oh... here is what happens when you reach the max level in maplestory:
your whole guild quits to go play WoW, everyone who once hated your guild decide to hack into it and turn it noob, and all of your cash shop items expire. Your gear becomes useless and you realize you wasted 4000$ or more getting a character to 200 and it was all a waste of your fucking time

True, but I just came back after about 4 yeas and I have to say, those NC items really left a sour taste in my mouth. Not to mention Luthari can't-touch-this Island. Give it a couple of years...

NC has little effect on the game other than customization, it is not as game breaking as NX cash can be for Maplestory and the other games.

Also, Missy, holy shit, level 200? <_<

What Missy alone has bought in NC probably feeds the families of 10 of those staff members. :p

Doubtful. I imagine most of the money was generated through the website by ads and NC through paypal. Losing a few plushes shouldn't put them in the red.

I really do not think neo is in trouble just because the plushies got dropped from their list of products. I bet they just stopped them because there wAsn't enough money in it. They can spend money to make the plushies or just pump out nc cards which probably bring in a lot
ore profit with less work and almost no shipping. I do not believe the site is slowing down in the least.

The plushies were not a quality product, so I am glad to see them go. As someone who has some of the old Limited Too plushies and some of the newer ones, there is a marked difference in quality, and the Limited Too ones weren't all that more expensive.

    In trouble, bah!

    No chance!!

The've just brought NC cards over to the UK and people are buying them like hotcakes, I personaly have about around 10 at £5 a pop in the last 3 months so so if even only every 1 in 50 users are spending like me, thats £200 a year, or around $325 spent by 1 in 50 users on neo there going to be rolling in it!

There overheads wont be small but im sure with the amount there raking in from NC alone its more than covered.

Theyll also have sponsors paying them loads and they had games out on different systems like Wii and DS etc.

You think there's that many staff members? I figured with their truly astonishing customer service that maybe four people worked there. LOL

I dunno....Yeh they make alot from there sponsors and NC and what not. But to be honest I don't think the sponsors will last for that much longer. All the sponsors are targeting at children. I work in a primary school. When it comes to blocking sites neopets isn't even thought of. When I was a kid you ask any kid what neopets is and they could tell you. These days it seems most kids don't have a clue. Which explains why there merchandise prob went flat.

Aging demographics happens with every franchise. I expect with the whole Nickelodeon thing they'll try to bring in fresh blood.

Neopets has been all free for so long, idk I think they're having trouble getting people to pay for stuff. I mean, I might be wrong, I get the felling the NC mall is doing quite well. I just don't buy into that stuff. Neopets is a free site, and I draw the line with using real money to pay for pixel pets. I think neopets is probably doing okay overall though, and as far as options I imagine they'll just amp up the NC mall and premium member perks. I REALLY hope they don't try to make neopets a paid site though. I don't care how much I love my pets, if they do that, I'm gone.
