why are you insulting little kids drawings? LOL
i'm sure you didnt do much better when you were a kid.

Because it's a lot of fun.
And... I was an excellent artist as a chlid. Those drawings they're sending to the troops are crap. *Kanye shrug* So sorry to disrespect kids who don't know shit about composition.

Like all old men he loves to talk about the past. He has told me war stories that made me laugh and war stories that curled my hair or made me cry. Every time he gets into talking about his military life it always upsets him.

My grandpa is the same way. He fought in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. He didn't like Vietnam so much. But my grandpa loved the army, because he liked bossing people around. All his stories involve him being way better than someone else at something. And he tells the same stories over, and over, and over again. Crazy old guys. Gotta love 'em.

I have to keep reminding myself that you're 41. *shakes head* Can't believe you even know how to work the internets at your age. Soon you'll be telling us all your war stories over, and over, and over...

Now let me get my shawl it sure is cold and boy its past my bedtime. I should have gone to bed hours ago! How can I get up to get my early bird blue plate senior citizen dinner?Posted Image

My dad was drafted. I am in this damned wheelchair because I was "blessed" to have been born in a military hospital and the military "doctors" thought c-sections were for weak people. After I was born the "doctors" then turned to my dad and said "well your daughter is going to die. now off to Vietnam with you".

After his superior and his superior's superior all but threatened mutiny (or whatever the army version of it is) they honorably discharged my father. And yes 41 years later I still live. My dad has always called me his "golden wound".

When my brother was in high school he was given a military exam of some kind and he got a near perfect score. From all junior to senior year they wooed him. I think the highest was the air force that promised officership, a full tuition AND a 80k signing bonus. My dad said if my brother even thought about joining he was a dumbass.

My father in law in WW2 and the Korean war. He is a decorated war hero and got a purple heart for losing his leg in Korea to a land mine. He told all 6 of his children if they enlisted he would never respect their decision. When one son asked why? He said he gave enough to the country, he sacrificed enough and they won't get his children too.

So yeah I have 'issues' with how the armed forces are ran. I have 'issues' with the wars we are in right now.

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear that. Personally I can't say I have that kind of insight since I moved out of afghanistan when I was 3. But my uncle told me stories about his draft when they were fighting russians and he would have the same opinion as your dad and in-law. They're both wise in that sense.
