Similar to how Youtube or Digg does it when someone replies to your comment.

Have a little email or PM message when your post is quoted by somebody else. I'd find this useful as a lot of the time I'll go back and read threads after a while, and find that I was quoted and possibly asked a question, but by the time I see that I got quoted, the question wouldn't be relevant anymore.

This please. So many threads that I don't check after I've posted then revisit much later to find somebody's asked something.

Doesn't solve the problem is someone simply asks you a question in a thread without quoting you, so it may be easier to simply check the threads you've posted in recently manually anyway.

But as long as it's a checkbox option (I don't like getting spammed by other users' actions.. I'm looking at you, Facebook), then this sounds like a good enough idea.

I don't know if much has changed, but IPB is terribly difficult to edit at the core (i.e. quotes, etc) I know that in IPB 2 it used some complicated file structure for the purposes of internationalization, and stopping people from understanding it's structure so that they could make a free copy. It's definitely possible, but would take a lot of work. And then when Hydro updates the IPB version, it will need to be reprogrammed in.

This is a reallllly cool idea. The only problem is what if someone quotes you not using the quote/multiquote button. But copy paste a quote box :(

Well, its not a fail-proof idea lol, but even so, it would still be useful for the people who DO use the normal quote function to quote someone (which is frequently used) :p. Also I think that maybe less people would be doing manual quoting if they knew that they wouldn't get a notification if done that way.

There is an easy work around. Go to your settings and have it automatically watch every topic you reply to and set up when you want to receive e-mail.

I like the idea. That way you could know when to go back and reply. Sometimes it takes days for me to realize someone has commented on what I said. I would want to have an option to block quotes from certain people if the need be. It would suck if someone constantly quoted you and you have to keep getting pm's about it.
