Well..girl should consider this. If something came up urgently in her life that she didn't think she could discuss with a new boyfriend but had to take care of...would she want a patient quality from him and understanding that sometimes other things must take presidence? In a relationship you usually determine qualities that you would like in a partner early on. Blowing you off isn't one of them, but he did mention he was stressed about something. My advice to girl is sometimes things happen, even if plans were made. Things don't always work out the way we plan them, and that doesn't always reflect how boy really feels.
However...if girl gave it up the night before he bailed...I'd seriously question that.
I know a lot of girls like to fantasize that their man thinks of them twenty four seven and see's them in only the most perfect light. It can't last forever. But to each their own. My boyfriend and I rarely have time to day dream about each other, and we see each other at our best and our worst. Sometimes we feel like we're being neglected, but most of the time we understand that there are other things going on. We always come back in the middle and talk it out if one of us got hurt feelings over something, and it really keeps us close. I'd suggest talking about the hurt feelings, but don't come on as an attack. Don't accuse him of ignoring girl...because girl didn't put effort forth either. Like Waser said, most likely a misunderstanding in an early relationship. But let him know it hurt girl that NEITHER of them contacted the other, and that they should both remember to next time. If girl makes it an attack or something "wrong" he's done, he'll feel guiltly and may not understand why. This will lead to irrational anger and most likely a dispute if girl cannot immediatly recover or diffuse him.
