I played for a good six months before I started getting bored. Had max Herbalism & Alchemy, was a lvl 80 Blood Elf Mage, and played on Duskwood.
Think this is my third or fourth month. Mostly waiting for Cataclysm but will probably come back by the end of May if not sooner.
Not a horrible game, just got boring for me at end game. Not too big into raids. Meh.
Graphics were visually appealing, and there's always plenty to do.
Think I enjoyed PvP in Wintergrasp the best though.
Nothing quite like killing gnomes for fun & profit. lol

I've read every one of your posts. None of them have been that interesting. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say that 10 of your posts asked a valid question on contributed something interesting.

You give him too much credit.

Okay then, you guys tell me what exactly I'm supposed to say in a thread titled "World of Warcraft" in General Debate forum. Is DOTA not WoW related? Last I checked, it was.

@ jcrboy: My posts are on-topic, related to whatever forum it is I'm posting it in at that particular moment, so I don't see why my posts are somehow considered inferior to everyone else's, when I'm just contributing the same amount of information, just from my perspective. So I talk in General Debate about WoW in a WoW Thread. I don't see anything wrong with that.

I wasn't talking about this thread at all. I don't know a thing about WoW except that it eats souls.

You asked why people were picking on you and I told you why.

Last time I checked, it wasn't WoW related, one is an MMO, the other is a custom map for a previous game.

So no, they are not related at all.

Then which thread are you guys talking about? I don't post off-topic or anything so I don't see why this is a problem.

Yes you did, did you even READ the topic title and the first post? This is a thread about World of Warcraft, not DoTA, and your first post here was about, of course, DoTA.

I was indicating that your posts usually score about a 0 on the entertainment scale, about a 6-8 on the on-topic scale, and a 0-2 on the informative scale.

This is why I have a problem with your posts.

I can handle those numbers on about 10 posts per day, but your raw quantity of junk is what really gets my attention.

    For the month I played I played on Aegwynn. It's a nice game but I can't justify paying $15/month for it . . .

They're struggling to keep new content interesting, you're probably right in saying that we don't get bang for buck. Their service is horrible too in my experience

Played for about a week, then went straight back to Lineage II. Just couldn't handle the ugly looks in WoW anymore.

I don't like WoW. I've never played it myself, but I don't like what it does to people. One of my friends was so addicted, me and another friend threatened to make her go cold turkey - by harpooning her laptop. She managed to give it up eventually, but not before she reached level 100. Obviously, people should know better than to get so addicted, but these games are set up intentionally to make people unable to stop. Which makes sense for them as a business, but it's still disgusting.

but not before she reached level 100.

It's hilarious that you say this, because it's impossible to hit such a level in World of Warcraft.

Also, it's not meant to be addictive, it's the choice of the player to put all their time into the game and it's their problem and fault if they get addicted.

Sorry, not good at remembering numbers. It was the top level of the time, anyway.

But the MMORPGs do create a Skinner Box for the player. The way they are set up allows for achievements to initally be reached quickly and gradually require more and more time and effort - once the player is hooked. Here's an article that explains it more eloquently than I could. A study of Everquest.

Still, every important step in games like this (Raiding, Wars, parties etc) takes an insane amount of time if you actually want to participate in them. So it's basicly not worth to play it at all if youre not willing to put some time into it. (Wich is the whole reason I stopped playing them, cause I did spend 8hrs per day :p)

Raiding these days is incredibly easy and incredibly casual, you can invest like an hour a day and get yourself geared up in T9 and ilvl 232 items from the ICC 5 mans, then spend like 4 hours a week raiding ICC itself. WoW no longer requires you to invest all your free time into anymore.

I played Horde. I had a hideous undead shadow priest, max level before I quit, which was 80 I believe. I had a hideous enhancement shaman troll, level 80.

I played on a roleplay server when I first started WoW. Worst. Decision. Ever.

Roleplay servers are full of white trash casuals that hiss and bitch at each other and the girls are constantly at each others throats fighting for the old fart guys who are their pathetically bad raid leaders. They can't progress for shit. I remember there was one guild on the server called Blacklisted, which was the most progressed but still very slow compared to other servers, and it was full of drama and assholes and wanna-be "hardcore" kiddies and my guild only got to finish Karazhan before I transferred.

I decided to move to Cho'gall, a PVP server which was at the time was one of the the highest in progression on WoW Jutsu. It changed once all the good guilds and people mass transferred off. Then all that was left was scum.

Anyway, I got to experience some real progression, and a guild that made me proud until I left the game out of boredom. It had lost its shine near the end, and was trying to keep people from leaving by releasing all sorts of features that just simplified things.

Ugh why did I type all this up. <_<

The way they set up raiding to be very forgiving on time punching lately is good and all but they've just gotten lazy, you don't see "hard mode chia clown" do you. It's embarrassing to have to recycle diablo 2 mechanics--oh well they've realized by now they have the monopoly on mmorpgs and aren't afraid to sacrifice quality lol.

Ah okay, Im not sure about WoW exactly, since I played it for so little time. I just noticed its like that in most games. (having to wait for parties, waiting for slowpokes, camping the bosses, the need to be there 30min before wars start to organize the parties, blablabla). But maybe its easier in WoW.

It's like neopets back in the day. I had to fricken' log on every 2 hours to spin the wheel, or sneak up to the snowager, or whatever, so I could luck up and get 1000 NP :p
