Err . . . I was planning on buying codestones again from user shops so that I may start training my pet again. However, due to the recent CG scare and people losing their accounts to them. I was wondering would there be a safe way for me to buy codestones from user shops without losing my account or anything valuable?

If you put your cursor over the item before purchasing, you will see the link it goes to. If it the buy link through neopets, it's safe to click on. If it goes offsite, obviously do not click on it. There are a lot of people using trades to sell now, too. You can consider that.

Alternatively you can bookmark someones shop you always know to be codestone stocked and accept to pay the 200np extra they put boohoo well worth the time and effort imo. (until the scare is done and gone)

No thats not true for all CGs. Just look at the cookie grab topic in news. Disable your javascript then go in.

As an extra precaution, you can also use a pin on everything important, since I heard that most CGers can't get the pin. (Can someone confirm this? I'm not too good with technology...)

I actually just got grabbed by a CG'er, but I pinned my bank, my e-mail and anything. I simply got my password back through my e-mail, and everything was fine.

I DID lose like 8 codestones though. Fuuuuu- :p

    Uhh quick question.
Am I supposed to disable javascript only when going into a shop, or can I leave it off completely?
Sorry if this is an obvious question.
Not even sure what javascript does.. -_-

I've found when I disable javascript I can buy things from shops, but once I leave I have to turn it back on because I can' t open and mess with any of the items I just got.

So Just disable it when going into a shop, though I don't even do that.

If I have to buy anything, I buy it and then log out and log back in to set a new "cookie" so they can't get into my account should they have been a cger with the cookie they "grabbed".

Yup, usershop. Before I read the warnings/disabled javascript. I got grabbed like an hour after I had been on.

Auctions are safe as well. But you might overpay, the ones that are underpriced get ganged up on.

Or you can get the No-script extension for Firefox. That way you can disable/enable scripts for only the sites you want. For example, once you get No-script, you can block everything but Neopets.com.
