Yes. Especially if they're fucking delicious.

Just do it. Certainly, you'll feel bad about it... until you start eating it. Omnomnom

Personally, I'd have had the fishmonger kill them first. But you can kill them before they go in the water - a quick stab in the head is the best way, I've heard.

killing them at the fish monger and time inbetween cooking = bad, meat not as fresh

i boiled some crabs a few days ago. felt bad at first but after doing some research into it, its the best way for taste and humanity-wise.

for crabs and lobsters most people keep em live and throw em into boiling water, kills em pretty quick - they probably go into shock and dont feel a thing before they die
others throw them in cold water and bring it to a boil - the crabs and lobsters grow accustomed to the rising temperature. after a while they go to sleep at a certain temperature, and yea...
others throw them into the freezer for like 30 min prior - this puts them to sleep once again
and if you just want to kill them quick,
for crabs stab them where their tail flap ends at a point under them
for lobsters knife them between their eyes

does killing them an hour before you cook them instead of right before really make much different taste wise ? if it does i dont understand why. either way SAVE THE LOBSTERS!!

Luckily, that's just air escaping their shells :p

Lobsters should be chilled before cooking, no? It's unlikely that they feel any pain in their catatonic state.
Still, if you're worried about hurting them, maybe eating them is a bad idea?

I don't think it's wrong, fresher meat tastes better that's a fact. The moment a lobster/fish/anything is killed, it starts decaying. It's best to kill it on the spot. This also reminds me of that Simpsons episode with the pet lobster, it was delicious.

    Touche there.

I can understand why you wouldn't want to I guess, but I won't ever be that type of person. Growing up on a farm prevented me from worrying about being nice to the food that I am killing to eat. :p

you would think growing up on a farm would make you respect the food you eat if you have to kill it. instead of *worrying about being nice to it*. sorry i have just always been against being mean to the animals that will soon be giving there lives so we can eat...i dont disagree with the killing of animals for food by all means but i do disagree with not being greatfull for it and disrespecting the animals.

im sure that is not what you mean (i hope) but i think the animals should have good lives before they die. oviously it is not nice to kill them and i think thats what you meant ,im just saying before the task happens..

Yopu misunderstood. I'm not saying at all that we disrespect out animals. I am the one who goes out everyday to feed and water everything, and I love to play with all the babies. So that wasn't the point I was trying to make.

BUT, we do hunt for a lot of our food. And that means shooting birds, deer, turkey, with guns/bows which means that I can't really worry about hurting them. That was what I was trying to say, I was talking more about wild game...which is what I consider lobsters. All of the things that we raise I love. lol. We have a couple chickens that we raise to eat(that are bred to be eaten), other then that we breed them and sell eggs/hatch them/sell chickens. :)

Sorry if that came off wrong Greatgenes. :)

i have a pretty strong conscience, but once you realize that it has to be done, you just get over it.

even if you don't buy and kill the lobster, someone else will...

just do it, make it quick, and happy animals = good tasting animal (like someone said above)

less pain and less stress = better tasting

so if you kill it slowly and painfully, i'm pretty sure the meat will be shitty because of all the toxins and acids and whatnot from the stress
so just do it quickly for both your sake and the animals sake

and yea, if you want a fresh tasting animal, kill it right before you cook it or kill it during the cooking process. the muscles and meat and whatnot start decaying because of lack of circulation and whatnot and things just get all gross.

Kobe beef cows in Japan are fed beer and high quality grain, massaged with sake, and combed daily
happy and drunk cows = the best tasting meat around

    Kobe beef is fantastic.

Then again, Wendy's beef isn't bad either, and I'm relatively certain that those cows aren't treated the best...

Yeah, like I said, I wasn't meaning our animals we raise. hehe. Just hunting wise mainly. :)

And we have about 50 horses out behind my brothers house, bout 3500 chicks/chickens, 80-100 ducks, couldn't tell you how many head of cattle, and a few hogs. :) I think that is about it.

    Getting off topic though. :/.

Did your bf catch them or buy them btw?? jw. :) We used to have places around here where you could go get lobsters from aquariums or whatnot, didn't know if that's where you got them or you actually got them fresh. xD I don't live anywhere where you can get them fresh. :p

I never really liked eating lobster based on the fact that you cook them alive. So I understand why you couldn't do it.

    This lol.

Grow some balls woman! In past Africa you would have to sing to the gods, ride on lions while throwing spears at meercats and warthogs to get your food. However if you are such a BITCH put some bandaids and polysporin on them pre-cooking.
