The easiest way to use a proxy w/o manual setup is to download this software (hot-shield)
When u run it will connect to a random (US) proxy for you (disconnect and reconnect proxy will change)
To check your current IP go here (check on before/after changing)
However hot-shield is an adware, random irritating popup will barrage your browser, this can be easily resolve by downloading adblockplus (works on FF browser, which incidentally helps you blocks all form of pop up for you from all sites, which is what it is designed for)
Hope this helps.

I like foxy-proxy myself if you're using firefox
The problem with foxy-proxy is you need to manually hunt a proxy/list (and testing whether is it reliable and fast) + the hassle of amending it in future, which can get messy at times
Hotshield with 100% success rate gives you a neat working proxy port in <5secs.
Do use foxy-proxy if you have a list of reliable ports and wishes to connect to it every time

I already use Adblock to get rid of all of the neopets ads, so I might have to try this out.

It took me a while to find a decent proxy with foxy proxy and it still says I'm in Indonesia...

It could be due to you not using Anonymous or Elite proxies as compared to transparent proxies.
In anyway, I hope hotshield would work best for you.

Are proxies really NECESSARY? Is there anyone who AB's and doesn't use a proxy? That's what i've been doing but my accounts got hacked. I believe I was just cookie grabbed though. Either way, I don't feel like going out of my way to look for a proxy when I might not even really need it.
If you don't wanna be chain frozen'd and monitored when making a new account, then you might wanna use a proxy.
I don't use a proxy though cause I just cbf finding one.

Why would they monitor me making a new account?

Why would they monitor me making a new account?
Because if you use the same IP address to create the account, same email, similar passwords, and do anything wrong on one, the might freeze you on all of them.

I was also skeptical of using that when he posted it.
It seemed too fishy for it to work like he said for free. I may be wrong because I didn't actually use it, but if you did get a virus from it then that guy should be banned.

I think my internet might have just been being a pain.
It's working fine now and I ran a virus scan on my computer and it said it was all clear, so

Something else to help some out.
I used to use free anonymous proxies from certain sites and after a couple of weeks the proxies were blocked from neopets. What this means is that TNT is aware of people using proxies and they are actively blocking them. Not to mention that they probably know of many of the ones available and if you use them and they see you restocking a lot they might put 2 and 2 together.
