Was this really necessary? You don't have the authority to tell someone to leave.I call bullshit. Any CIS major finishing their degree would know more than Java and definitely know C++. Java is a beginner language that does a lot of things for you such as memory management. I think you are just another 12 year old kid who wants to pretend that they are indeed a programmer.
Please leave.

Wooah now. No need to get snappy. For all you know, this guy is a 35 year old software engineer attending MIT. Don't jump to conclusions, especially when you have absolutely no knowledge of his actuality.
As for the OP, I suggest you post some things you've written, even if its not related to Neopets. That way, we can see what level of skill you actually posses.
Don't leave.

Since when has Java been classified as a beginner language?
I certainly wouldn't class it as a beginner's language at all, it seems to be the opinion of somebody with a superiority complex.

I'd say JavaScript is pretty beginner, but Java is definitely not. It's taken me over a year just to understand the basic functions of Java, and I still wouldn't be able to do anything seriously complex. (A.K.A. write an app for codex)

Anyone who compares Javascript and Java together should cease to talk, and profess knowledge on a topic they know nothing about.

Would a CIS major only know Java? Besides the point would you not agree that the JVM does a lot of things for you such as memory management, updating references, etc, and the Java API provides well documented methods that pretty much reduce Java to copy and pasting code for a majority of its uses.

Uh... Excuse me? Java and JavaScript are related. They are both object oriented languages, and their programming structures are very similar. JavaScript is just way simpler than Java. Again with the assumptions... Why don't you just leave?

Au contraire! That doesn't class it as a beginner's language, but quite the opposite. If you logic were to hold, we would be doing all of our programming computer code.

Oof:
A common misconception is that JavaScript is similar or closely related to Java. It is true that both have a C-like syntax, the C language being their most immediate common ancestor language. They are both object-oriented, typically sandboxed (when used inside a browser), and are widely used in client-side Web applications. In addition, JavaScript was designed with Java's syntax and standard library in mind. In particular, all Java keywords are reserved in JavaScript, JavaScript's standard library follows Java's naming conventions, and JavaScript's Math and Date objects are based on classes from Java 1.0.[16]
But the similarities end there. Java has static typing; JavaScript's typing is dynamic (meaning a variable can hold an object of any type and cannot be restricted). Java is loaded from compiled bytecode; JavaScript is loaded as human-readable source code. Java's objects are class-based; JavaScript's are prototype-based. JavaScript also has many functional features based on the Scheme language.

Thank you for posting valid, useful information. That's more than I can say for Arash.
But this thread is getting seriously off topic, so I'm going away now. lol

Java is much easier to code, and much less flexible than C# or C++. That is why C# and its descendent's are used in a majority of programs and user based applications today.
Oof:
Did you really just use that as proof that Java and Javascript are similar? Are you mentally retarded? They are both OOP(most languages are these days), they both use the same keywords and Java naming conventions(so the words they use are the same), and two different standard library classes are loosely related(so what?). I suggest next time you actually read the quote you cite from Wikipedia to make sure it is relevant to your argument.

I'd be very interested to see some of your work. We work with python mostly. Do you have any experience with that?
