The Dark Knight Rises

...

Big news from the Batman camp in today’s L.A. Times: Christopher Nolan has revealed the name of the third film in his Gotham City trilogy. In July 2012, we’ll be queuing for The Dark Knight Rises. Not only that, but in something of a bombshell, Nolan went on to dispell what many had begun to assume to be a given – “It won’t be the Riddler,” reports L.A.T.’s blog Hero Complex. So easy to get ahead of yourself, isn't it? Of course, true to form, the director wouldn’t reveal who it would be.

What Nolan seemed most interested in imparting was that he’s convinced Warner Bros. to keep telling his story in 2D, and to continue down the path of hi-def IMAX sequences. And he’ll get no argument from us on the subject – if it ain't broke, etc.

The post contains one other potentially juicy, enigmatic Nolan quote: “We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones.” From here, you can go down two schools of thought – 1) This is a straightforward, non-commital comment. 2) You can subscribe to the oft-chanted mantra that "In comic books, no-one is ever really dead" – and we lost two big characters in The Dark Knight. But then again, of course, that doesn’t – to date – really wash with the realistic leanings of the first two films. What was that about getting ahead of ourselves? Pah! Tish! Etc.!

I have a feeling there is too much hype and that it will be a major flop.

Man, that title must have taken a large amount of brainpower to think up. They added an ENTIRE WORD to the previous films title.

I think the riddler was used too much. I dont want to see him or poison ivy or two face. It would be cool to see penguin I think. Joker would have been nice but the guys gone :'(

Two-Face isn't dead. I'ma take a gander that it will be Two-Face and Bane. Which honestly doesn't make a ton of sense, but it may be interesting... Or they can re-visit Arkham. Too much like the games maybe?

...Maybe they'll bring back Danny DeVito as the Penguin.

He fell from so so high though. That would be soooo awesome to see bane though!

i dont think they'll be touching The Joker with a 10-foot poll, Heath Ledger's performance was awesome and they'd be suicidal to attempt it.
hopefully scarecrow get a much larger role in this film, but i dont think that'll happen :(

I remember reading a while back that Nolan had planned the third to deal heavily with the Joker as well, but with Ledger's passing, a lot of speculation went into Penguin or Riddler. I'm actually pretty happy that it's not going to be the Riddler. He really doesn't seem like a villain that would fit with the atmosphere of this Batman. Wonder what Tom Hardy's role is gonna be then =S

They should just get another actor that has a flat face like Heath Ledger to play the Joker.
Like the kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun
    Posted Image

Or Julia Stiles. And if people complain the Joker seems too different, shrug and remind everyone that he's insane. The Joker was the best thing in these new Batman films, and we won't get to see any more of the character just because some dipshit took all his pills at once? Heath Ledger isn't the only person who is able to play a maniac.

He was linked to possibly playing The Riddler, but with Nolan saying The Riddler won't be in the movie, that isn't going to happen, unfortunately. I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Also, I read an article about both Christopher Nolan and Aaron Eckhart stating Two-Face's story is finished, so there goes my theory on that. I'd still like to see Bane, though. My friend thinks both Deadshot and Black Mask are going to be in Rises, with Tom Hardy playing Deadshot.

Hyperlinked Wiki for all you comic book illiterates.

EDIT: Have you seen '500 Days of Summer', Elindoril? Gordon-Levitt is great in the lead role.

Definitely wouldn't mind a Two-Face/Bane movie, though personally I'm holding out for Harley Quinn to have the spotlight for once in a Batman flick.
Wouldn't mind a Two-Face/HQ movie if it came down to it, though that could be too close to number 2.
Maybe HQ/Poison Ivy for #4 if #3 isn't all hype and no substance.

Apparently, Nolan is interviewing some new leading ladies to play Bruce Wayne's "love interest" and "female villian" (my money's on Talia Al-Ghoul and/or Catwoman); one of which is Anne Hathaway who I think would make a great Talia Al-Ghoul. The others include Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley and Rachel Weisz.

I'm hyped up for the next movie but totally prepared to keep my expectations low for no disappointments just in case.

I'm hoping for Black Mask but wouldn't mind seeing them doing Mister Freeze again
"Ice to meet you" and stiff bat-nipples are some of the joys of my childhood. :B

Jesus Christ, whoever posted that Joshua Gordon Levitt should play as The Joker, I love you so much right now.

I love him so much. ♥

And...I have no idea how they plan on topping The Dark Knight. I actually went and saw that one in theaters. I hardly ever go

to the theaters, but yeah, that was one worth seeing.

    And...-sniff- RIP Ledger.

    *The Riddler

@chewibunny: I heard something about the Black Mask somewhere, but he's probably too obscure of a villian to be featured in the movie.

ooo Bah I need to make my own gifs...cant even find him as a "Spider-Man" HI-Larious.

If Batman does go past a 3rd sequel, which it should. Nolan is doing an awesome job, it has already been said that Christian Bale will probably not return..who else can be Batman? Go back to Clooney and O'Donnell...
